Apparently that wasn't the case w/ Margarito now wasn't it? :D

Floyd can't just click his heels and pull a million + ppv buy out of his ass. Floyd/Cintron, doesn't do 1 million buys. Floyd/Williams, doesn't do 1 million buys. Floyd/Margarito doesn't do 1 million buys. Floyd/Cotto, possibly does 1 million buys. Floyd/Hoya II, definately does at least 1 million buys. Floyd/Hoya II is an easy payday worth at least 15-20 million. If Floyd turns this fight down, Cotto swoops in and lands the fight with DLH. Floyd is then left with a second rate fighter with no real drawing power. I'm not saying I like it, but money rules this sport, just like it rules most aspects of life.

So what? Why do we make a big deal about PPV buys anyway? If that's the case, Floyd can fight DLH 3-4 more times and he'll be defended rigorously by his fans.

I could care less if Floyd fights someone w/ NO drawing power as long as it's a good fight. He's supposed top be the draw now isn't he?

And BTW, you don't know about Cotto - DLH happening. According to DLH's wife, he can't fight another Rican remember.:D

And if Floyd REALLY needs a min of 20 mill to fight a live body, he may as well as retire or just ONLY fight DLH over and over.

Please Lance, don't make me pull out the quotes that completely blow this statement out of the water, and seriously indicates that I'm right on the issue.

As far as the rest of your post, I think it's funny how Floyd critics all of a sudden want to claim he's a big draw. Beforehand, all I've seen written by Floyd critics on this site is that he needs big names to put up big numbers. I've also seen alot of people write that the first May/Hoya fight should've been a draw or scored for Hoya. Now all of a sudden, this fight is pointless, and Floyd can do 1 million buys with anyone.

The fact of the matter is, Floyd is the second biggest draw in boxing. Why the hell wouldn't he jump on the opportunity to fight the number 1 draw, especially when their first fight was so succesful? I scored the first fight for Floyd 9-3. As a result, I'm really not that hyped about this fight. However, I can't expect Floyd to abandon logic and common sense in order to take on some no names just so he can try to impress some internet bloggers who will always criticize him regardless.

Think about that Lance, do you really think many people would be interested in a 3rd May/Hoya fight if May wins? Of course not, and Hoya wouldn't try to make a 3rd one. And I'll tell you another thing, I doubt Floyd will fight anyone else unless he feels he can make $20 million.

That last part was in jest. I don't take serious those types of comments anyway.

Anyway, this fight is a total waste for boxing fans. I don't care about how much money it will make...cuase I don't get a dime. And yes, it IS POINTLESS, because for one simple reason you overlook. THEY ALREADY FOUGHT and it was pretty boring at that.

Look, EVERYONE with a brain saw it was a clear win for Mayweather. You can say all day, "People scored it a draw" as if that justifies it.

How do you know? If the first fight did 2 miill, the second will do less, but still a lot. And a third will probably do more buys then Floyd v. anyone esle. Agree with that? And if a third fight makes the most money, will it be alright?

Like I said, if Floyd NEEDS 20mill to make a fight happen, just drop all the belts and retire. IF I want to see a good fight involving Mayweather, I'll watch him back @ 130 or 135, when he mattered.

This fight is justified, and not pointless for one reason, it will generate a ton of money. It's not a hard concept to grasp. It's why Cotto, Wright, and pretty much everyone from 147-154 wants to fight DLH.

Dude....why do you care about the money it will generate? DOes that mean Tyson v. Butterbean would be good for boxing too?

I know why everyone wants to fight DLH. Point is, Floyd JUST DID. And it was a horribly lackluster fight.

Lance, if you're not going to use common sense, then there is no reason for us to debate this. Hoya will not even try to make a 3rd fight unless he feels he gets robbed in this one. No one would be interested in a fourth fight.

As far as Floyd retiring if he needs 20 mill, that's what he tried to do, twice. Each time, someone came his way with another 20 mill + payday. After this fight, he'll claim he's retired again unless another fight comes around that he believes can net im 20 mill +

When did I ever say I cared about how money the fight will generate? Never once have I said that I even had much interest in this fight. I'm just stating what is. I don't like to see good players leave my favorite team, but I can't blame them if they leave after another team offers them a huge contract.

WTF are you talking about? I'm NOT using common sense?

YOU are the one defending this in the name of money for the two fighters.

And I was speaking hypothetically BTW.

Great...what a waste. He can make himself an even BIGGER LEGEND, but needs the 20 mill first.

And if he NEEDS 20 mill to fight, that's pretty much the same as pricing ones self out of tough fights.

I'm not saying it's good for the fans . . . what I'm saying there is why Floyd would not refuse the offer.

Imagine being offered more money to fight a less dangerous opponent?

If you're on Floyd's place what would you do? Refuse?

    :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
