Jim Rome doesn't know enough about boxing to debate Mayeather...Brian Kenny would have tore him a new one.

This is not the way he should prove he is great by knocking other greats. Other greats like Ali or Hearns or Duran or most of them fought so many superfights and put so much into boxing that by the time Ali or Hearns lost to Spinks or Hearns to Barkley, they had already fought thier best efforts and eras. Floyd is almost explaining that those guys put more into boxing than he did. He will win tommorow against Shane, but he will never be as great as Ali or come close to Leonard.

Put Floyd in Ali's shoes strip his belts and try to send him to Iraq, do you think Floyd would bounce back like Ali did and regain the title after a long layoff? Hell No!

That was a great post! Especially the part about you being a recruiter, and how confidence plays a big part irrespective of what the truth is. I truly agree with that, and that is why I don't have a problem with what FMJ says about himself being the greatest of all time. He believes that he is the greatest, and in a way, he has to believe in order to be great. If we asked any top echelon fighter, I'm sure they would say the same thing, perhaps not in public, but in private. But at the same time, in a paradoxical way, I'm sure FMJ has the greatest respect for Sugar Ray Robinson, and puts him on a pedestal even above himself. It doesn't make sense logically to think that you are the greatest, but at the same time hold others above you or equal to you, but it doesn't have to make sense, and that's the point! And that's what makes this kind of thinking convenient.

no Sonny, this ****** really thinks his legacy is greater than Ali's. Some people still actually have the balls to defend him on this. My god, boxing has gone to ****.

What I love about this is how Floyd says that he was the fastest person to win a title yet a few minutes later metions how Leon Spinks took the title from Ali after having only 7 fights

    :patsch

And the "plus he threw no body punches" remark has me scratching my head. What the **** does that have to do with anything?

And then the cying, "Nobody gives me a chance in no fight."

Yeah Floyd, cause everyone was fearing for your safety in your last fight against a blown up lightweight that you came in overweight to fight

Why are PPV numbers so important to this guy when comparing himself to Robinson and Ali?

How much do people want to bet that he cries at the post fight press conference if he wins?

He was a lot more assured in his argument than the bumbling, stuttering that I've seen him fall into before. He wasn't acting either. He thinks he's the best. He has a good point when it comes to hit/being hit percentages, but three of his five reasons for being the best: gate, ppv numbers (which he used twice in his four points) are worthless indicators.

The interviewer didn't know enough about boxing to properly counter, and Floyd did a good job by making him come up with reasons why they're better than him. But quality of opposition will always hang over him unless he beats Pacquiao.
