seldomseenslim, relax, guys are having a joke at you because this thread is patently ridiculous. We've all been badly wrong, you just have to laugh at yourself sometimes.

It's one thing to jab your way inside, ya know, that's what boxers are supposed to do.

It's another to come rushing in with your forehead not throwing punches. That's what wrestlers do. It was ineffective anyway, Floyd neutralized it and got the better of Hatton when Hatton wasn't separated.

You're just an ignorant fanboy. Ricky has showed more class in defeat than you as a nuthugger have. Follow the lead of your idol and show respect, Ricky doesn't need a nitwit like you sticking up for him.

Thing is he had plenty of boxing skills before he fought at the highest level. (His reign as WBU champ) Being a pretty good boxer to go with being a decent brawler isn't gona do you much good when your up against the elite like Floyd. Not bad against Ben Tackie though.
I remember an interview about 20 years ago with british heavy Gary Mason where he claimed something along the lines of haveing underated skills. Didn't do him any good against Lewis.

Didn't see that one, but picking out a "single most crooked figure" in the gangster world of Don King boxing won't be easy. Joe Cortez is in with some pretty heavy company.

note: This thread is why fanboys of UK fighters get criticism from the American fans.

It's sad so many have intellectually stimulanting threads only to get ruined by the runts of the group who are just the equivalent of boxing groupies.

It happens on the reverse end with ******ed American fans, but this kind of thread is an example too great to pass up noting.

That is true but it's kind of a moot point because if he was an elite fighter he would have carried his whole arsenal to elite level. Hatton looked great against C fighters, no ones arguing that.

Hatton was beaten up on the inside as comprehensively as he was on the outside.

Look, everyone has to start as a fan somewhere; if you have gotten into boxing as a fan of Hatton it's nothing to be ashamed of - for me it was a prime Tyson who got me interested in the sport - BUT if you've seen Hattons fights against Tsyzu et al (when he was given a free ride by the referees) you could come to the conclusion that Cortez was 'biased'; he wan't, the referee can't allow constant clinching, its as simple as that.

What about the hometown ref Hatton had against Zoo and the other 40 fighters he faced before that. That ref let Hatton mug and low blow Zoo all night long but I don't see you crying about that. I also don't see you crying about Cortez during the Castillo fight he was a great ref then.
