Win in an impressive and entertaining fashion. I admit, I have never been a Mayweather fan only due to the fact that he talked too big for his fight. He always talked like he was an offense machine, but he was always too defensive, cautious and smart to put on an entertaining and dramatic fight. However, he did just that this past Saturday. I have to say one thing, I was also never a fan of Hatton, although you can't hate the humble guy, I just never really appreciated his holding and grabbing style. He, however, forced Mayweather to fight. I have never seen Mayweather get pushed around like that physically, and if anything, when the pressure stacked, he came through like Jordan came through in the playoffs, last play 3 seconds to go... Both men performed better than I thought they would. I actually called a Mayweather KO & beating, similar to what he did to Gatti. However, Ricky proved although he is short, he is a tough big bone guy who is strong in his own way and ackward. Mayweather has shown after seeing him more and more that he can adapt to any situation. Not only is he highly skilled and conditioned, but he also posseses the things that cannot be taught; that is natural instinct in the ring that he carries that he knows what switch to flip or turn off and when to do it. He is an amazing athlete. On a side note, I have to say that I believe that even Mayweather himself was a bit surprised in the fight. He seemed to be more humbled in this fight then in other fights as if he was surprised himself of his performance and of the fight as a whole. He almost seemed grateful for Ricky coming out and bring out the best in him. With that said, I give Mayweather his props for performing well, and I hope to see him in future bouts in hope that he performs as well as this one. I take nothing away from Ricky, he proved why many people like to watch him,he is entertaining & explosive. And I have to admit, that part after he got deducted 1 point for swinging at Floyd behind the head, when Cortez pulled them together to start fighting, he turned around and gave Floyd his ass... that was awsome... funny stuff, no one ever expected it, especially Floyd, you can see it in his face. 2007 has been a good year for boxing... lets hope 2008 continues the pace set by 07.
This is not Mayweathers only all out offensive display of greatness.....You have not been a fan of boxing for that long...

No but his first on an elite opponent since maybe Corrales. Gatti was not elite, especially at that time.
I love boxing, and the skills that come with it, so I think that he is usually entertaining and equally impressive. I was the same way with BHOP, these fighters put on clinics when they fight, and I love learning.
I have been a fan of boxing long enough to see Chavez in his prime and before Mayweather started his pro debut, but what I meant is that this last fight I think was the only time I have seen him where he was really forced to fight. The other fights where Floyd was more offensive, he seemed to be offensive when it was "safe" for him to do so, with little or no risk. In this fight, Ricky was very rugged, not necessarily damaging Floyd severly with punches, but he caught him a few times, and of course with all that grabbing and shoving around. He was very physical...People complain about Cortez, but Ricky got away with more than some other refs would have allowed...especially after he blatantly went after him behind the head a few times. I don't recall seeing Floyd fighting anyone as intense and physical as Hatton came out on Saturday night. For once, I really saw Floyds character and heart out there in the ring. When going got tough, he simply got better and he ended it the way HE needed to end it. It seemed as if though, he realized Hatton wasn't going to go away like some of the other guys unless he knocked him out...and he did just that. putting egos, trash talk, flashyness, and all the other things that annoy people about Floyd aside, we saw Floyd "the fighter" in that ring.
Floyd also showed he could take pressure and deal with it against Jesus Chavez, Emanuel Burton, and even Judah. No hater could really prove he was boring in those fights.
Are you always offensive to people? You said a similar thing to me, if I recall, that I "need to learn about boxing", or something like that. Me, I have been a boxing fan since the mid to late 70's. Isn't it possible you could try being a little more kind to people, or will you always be a keyboard warrior? I know you wouldn't act this way towards me in "real life", as I'm 6'5" and 220 pounds.
