Some interesting points guys: I don't know if DLH can pull it off in the 2nd time or not - probably not - but he came close to beat PBF the first time. Of course you can make some very legitimate points that DLH doesn't have the stamina and the speed which is correct. And of course points of using the jab more and Floyd Sr.'s advices. That's important too. But forget those issues for a moment and let's discuss some others: There are some less important, but certainly not insignificant issues, and I'd like to throw in two: -Fighters activity -Age Just to remind you: if a fighter, especially after 30, fights quite rarely, it definitely leaves marks on his accuracy, footwork, overall skill and speed level, maybe stamina and most important: reflexes. That's nature. Now this time, after 4 fights in 5 years, DLH will be more active fighting a slick boxer in a tune-up fight a few months before his rematch. That’s important. And in the meantime, it will be Floyd who'll have to deal with inactivity. It will be almost 10 months, which - as far as I know – is the longest break ever in PBF's pro career. The other thing: DLH will be 35 at fight night which is not a young age at our sport. So that can be a big factor, however I myself don’t see MUCH difference between the 34 and 35 year old DLH, and he will be more active this year. But have you ever thought that the age, as a factor for every human being, can be a factor for Floyd too? Of course I haven't seen ANY signs of that and I'm not saying that there will be any. But I'm saying that in a few days Floyd will turn to 31, and that's usually (but not necessarily) a point at most fighters career when the age shows, even if just a little bit. These are some minor things and you can argue that Floyd will be better, more aggressive in the 2nd time around etc. but please use another thread for those very legitimate arguments. My question here after you read my post is: will Floyd's inactivity and age be a factor at all in September – no matter how minor it is?
No, Floyds inactivity won't be a factor against DLH, who is even more inactive. But if Floyd was fighting Cotto, as he should be , yes, inactivity would be a factor because Cotto has been more active.
Well i dont think it will make a difference because the Forbes fight will be nothing but a sparring session for DLH and im sure Floyd will be sparring alot before the fight so their inactivity will be pretty equal. Floyds accuacy and timing is superior to DLH's at this point (or at any point) and im sure like always floyd will come in tip top shape as apposed to DLH who will prolly be gased out by the 8th round
I hope the fight doesn't happen. But, I've been watching Floyd since the 1993 Golden Gloves. The guy has an un real work ethic -- that's the truth, not just some hype for the 24/7. He's always in shape, so while age will slow him down eventually I don't see it being an issue this Sept.
Floyd is great. But he's still human. If ring rust affected him against Emmanuel Burton, who bloddied his nose and gave a good showing, then it will show too against DLH.
PBF will beat Oscar again. He is far to good for Oscar. The first fight was not close I gave it to PBF 116-112 comfortably. Oscar found it extremely hard to hit the target whereas PBF was very accurate as usual. PBF is simply the better man both as a fighter and as a man.
Oscar has a puncher's chance and even then he's not gonna land. Floyd obviously won a UD the first time around. This time should be no different except it will be official.
