That you would even compare an all-time great like Hopkins to a one-dimnesional hack like Lacy speaks volumes about your own ignorance.

I've seen plenty of Calzaghe fights over the years, and in fact, I've always enjoyed watching him fight. He has a crowd-pleasing style, and that, I'm afraid, will be his undoing against a seasoned vet like Bernard.

Well, Joe best be prepared, for nobody bends the rules in his favor like Hopkins.....not to be mistaken with breaking the rules.

yeah because joe can't box can he rummy, only goes toe to toe.

i take it you missed him jabbing kesslers face off, a guy regarded as one of the best jabbers on the planet. that certainly wasn't "crowd pleasing" but was just another example of calzaghe adjusting his style.

like kessler said, calzaghe takes your boxing away. he has loads of little tricks that upset your rhythm. calzaghe's own spoiling skills and ability to make his opponent look bad are being grossly underestimated heading into this fight.

exactly, he struggled twice with jermaine "average is my middle name" taylor and a blow up winky wright doll.

but now apparently he will outclass and expose calzaghe. best of luck with that old man river.

I never said that, but Joe isn't exactly a versatile defensive wizard. Essentially, he fights effectively one way and one way only, and that's by overhwelming his opponents with punch output after he figures them out. He isn't going to figure out Hopkins quite so easily, mark my words, and I doubt Joe will have a plan B when he repeatedly gets countered and roughed-up by the old man.

Kessler was a title holder with a good jab and a good straight right. I saw the bout, and Calzaghe was able to neutralize this within three rounds.

Figuring out Hopkins won't be so easy, I assure you.

You can replace Calzaghe's name with Hopkins above and it would be much more fitting.

uhhhh, overwhelming his opponents with a thousand punches isn't a style in itself, it's part of his style. calzaghe can beat you from the outside using his southpaw jab, neutralising your own jab or lead right with his outstanding footwork.

...and if he wants he'll stand toe to toe with you and beat you to the punch with his blistering handspeed.

he'll happily dart in and out on you all day, attacking the body.

calzaghe is far more versatile than you seem to think.

figuring out hops might not be so easy, but hopkins looked tired in the second half of the winky fight and looked awful down the straight, here i expect calzaghe to pour it on, utilizing his vastly superior stamina.

that's right, you keep telling yourself that. you stay in denial and pretend to yourself that calzaghe is the one dimensional, easy to be worked out slugger that you like to think he is.

Then I will give him mad props!

For Hopkins ain't getting old overnight. He's one of the best conditioned athletes in the sport, and his legs are still fresh.

At the end of his bouts, he easily looks as if he can go another 3 rounds. For that matter, stamina has never been an issue with Joe, either.

Both are in SUPERB SHAPE for every bout.

whats clear on this thread is that when hopkins fights a fellow american fighter he is a good but boring punch /headbutt and grab fighter who most do not want to know about.

fighting an overseas fighter hopkins has suddenly become the most loved american fighter on esb and everything previously said about him was a lie and in reality we worship the ground he stands on.

his form from his previous 6 fights or so never happened and he now cannot now be touched by the foreigner and will win in such style , he will hardly have a punch land on him , while toying and teeing off on offense will ko this foreign bum.

it has to be an anti foreigner thing , because hatton was absolutley despised and loathed a month ago for his hit and then hold style, everyone stateside could not wait for him to lose .

now we have hopkins who similary throws a punch and then grabs and mauls as hatton does ,be held up as some kind of boxing messiah who the same posters are desperate to see win.

I bet you'll call B-Hop 'too old', 'ring rusty', 'too heavy' and things like that if Calzaghe will dominate him.
