This fight is a catch 22.

If joe wins: bhop was old and calz should be ashamed for beating a past prime senior citizen.

If Joe loses: Over rated exposed sheltered fighter who got beat when he finally met real competition.

Either way a Calz win would mean little to be honest, but a calz loss would shake the foundation of the UK itself. (just like hatton's L)

Nope. I will give him mad props in the unlikely event the overhyped Calzaghe somehow manages a victory.

What I look forward to is the excuses made by the Calzaghe faithful after he loses to Hopkins! It will make the post Wlad-Sanders excuses look reasonable!

    LOL! That's a good one.

If Hopkins can pull this off, I look forward to those excuses myself as well...

I think he first excuse should calz lose will be that his chest hair caused him to lower is punchout put therefore making his hands more china like.

I actually meant to say Wlad-Brewster, where off-the-wall theories included Wlad being ****d with too much vaseline by Manny, Wlad eating too many Easter chocolates before the fight, and the Green Man pissing in Wlad's water bottle.

Calzaghe is no Hatton ... To say that makes no sense ... Calzaghe will fight the most discipline fight of his career. He's not going to make any mistakes, because if he does - it be nighty night for Joe.

If Calzaghe gets caught up in the moment then it could be a long night ... If he shows too much respect for B-Hop then its going to be a long night ... if he under estimates Hopkins it could be a long night ... If he doesn't dodge those right hands it could be a long night.

I'm sure that Hopkins is studying Calzaghe and have his style broken down to a science. He will know all of Joe's bad habits, he'll know what punches were thrown that gave Calzaghe trouble, he'll figure somethings out.

I'm not taking Hopkins lightly and despite his past, I won't be surprised if he won.

metaphorically speaking Calz is like hatton. Sheltered a little bit from the world, only fighting in UK until recently, etc. The way they were idolized and hyped by European fans. Those are the glaring similarites between the two. Most of Hatton's fans caught amnesia when hatton got KO'd. I wonder if the millions of Calzaghe's fans will act in a similar fashion if he loses.

Yeah - exposed as a ten year titlist with 20 odd defenses and undisputed world champion at SMW. What a bum.

    Good point D ...
I can see Calzaghe winning this fight and I can see him losing ...

I think more pressure is on Calzaghe and the spotlight is going to be bigger than ever during his career.

Hopkins isn't the best available American opponent but he sure is the most dangerous.

Alot of eastern europeans don't have much success when crossing that pond.
He could possible get beat ... not exposed ... just beat.

The above merits do not preclude him from being grossly overhyped.

Unlike Hatton, Calzaghe Is the real deal and will destroy that fouling, no stamina, one fight a year chump.

Fitz what would have to happen for Calz to be exposed in your eyes? Get KO'd a la Maccaroni in the second round? Outclassed for 12 rounds? What would be the ultimate 'exposed' fight?
