    Agreed.

What "gets me" is the "He deserves an easy fight..." No he doesn't!

    Here is a guy that...

    1) Calls HIMSELF the best ever. Constantly. Like 24/7.
    2) Gets paid $32 million STANDARD for EVERY FIGHT he has.
    3) Has a plethora of challengers available.
    4) Has a style that lends it's self to longevity more than any other.
    5) Doesn't deserve an "easy fight" due to the above four.

Oh, and for people saying Guerrero was deserving, don't be so stupid.

When you put it like that it's hard to argue with all those points.

But it's his last fight, ffs, why should he fight a prime young fighter for his last fight at 38 years old when he's proven himself?

His record speaks for itself, so I don't see how he would need to fight any more young fighters to prove anything.

He beats thurman, brook, porter, khan all day, so those fights would be pointless.

Like another poster said the big problem is the charges that are on this fight for the fans.

    It should be fcking free.

This comment had me rolling. "I'm in the gym pushing myself to the limit, I'm sure he's in the gym pushing his self to the limit"

Guerrero was deserving. Don't let a fighters current situation change your perception of what they were at the time. Was Gatti not deserving of fighting Mayweather because he's now dead?

We ALL know it won't be his last fight.

How are those fights against Khan, Thurman etc pointless? If they are pointless, then what does that make his fight with Berto? And how do you know he would beat them?

    RG was not deserving.

How can a fighter two wc's below you be more deserving than the top 2 challengers in the divisions that YOU campaign in?

Given that Floyd is the best fighter on Earth at 147, the fact that he has decided not to fight one of the many credible contenders (all of whom I believe he would beat) in order to fight Berto (who really is no longer relevant in the division) is a terrible decision.

If it is not PPV then it is still an awful match-up, but at least no-one is having to pay for it. However, if this fight is PPV, then who buys this shyte is a terminally gullible fool.

BTW, it would be hilarious if Berto ko'd him!

Why should the best fighter on Earth (and self-proclaimed TBE) be granted an easy fight? Even if it is his final bout (which I very much doubt that it will be..his ego will not allow him to remain undefeated at 49-0. A Manny rematch to hit 50-0 is what will probably happen). If Floyd is at the stage of his career that he should not be fighting a "prime, young fighter" then he should retire now, surely?

I agree with you when you say that Floyd would probably beat all those you mentioned with ease..but then why write that he shouldn't have to fight any of those "Prime, young fighters"?

Can you seriously argue that Brook, Thurman, Khan (add Bradley to the list) would not be more of a challenge than the seriously faded Berto (who I like by the way)?

Fans should vote with their $$$$$$s and simply refuse to buy it!! We all know what is going to happen, and it will be available to view online with a day or so anyway.

Imagine the fight taking place with only a few hundred people in attendance..and less than a thousand ppv buys??

That is the type of message that Floyd, Haymon and the rest of those charlatans (from both sides of the Atlantic..yes, you too Eddie) need sending!! Because right now we as fans are allowing our sport to be held hostage! By paying for such rubbish, we are not getting the great match-ups that are readily available.

Of course, the arena will be packed..and it will do well over a million ppv buys, due to the gullible fools who don't care that their naivety and financial foolishness is precisely why boxing is dying a death!

    Well said

I have disagreed with you previously BB...but you are bang on with regards this!!

And no reasonable minded boxing fan could provide any sensible counter to your points.

He can't just retire because he has a contract with showtime for two last fights.

I'm saying he shouldn't have to fight them because he doesn't have anything more to prove, and 2; even though he beats them with ease, he will still have to train like a monster for that to happen.

His body is slowing down at nearly 40 years old, thats why I feel he shouldn't have to be out there proving himself against the young pretenders.

Obviously if there was someone out there in the welterweight who you genuinely thought could beat floyd then yes floyd should make that fight happen.

But no one out there can beat him realistically

I see where you are coming and agree with your sentiments regarding promoters, match ups and dumb boxing fans continuing to pay up to watch dross.

I'm just looking at this from Floyd as the exceptional fighter that he is and what he has accomplished, deserves an easy fighter after fighting manny, maidaina twice back to back canelo, and cotto.

Those are tough fights. That's one cherry pick out of 5 bouts consecutively fighting champions.

    Ha! ;)

I agree with your post, too. :good

As you said - There isn't a single sensible counterpoint to this.

    He needs to retire, period.

No, he doesn't deserve an easy pay day!

Jesus, he is getting paid a monumental amount of money to fight... Fight the best!

Just another example of him r*ping the sport.
