People talk about weight disparity but Pacquiao did it from fly to light middle and is still going strong today. Greatest of his generation IMO with a deeper resume than Floyd.

An ATG? Without a doubt! The goat? No. How does someone losing to a bigger guy boost Mayweather’s resume? Mayweather isn’t the best at 135 either. Or 147. He has a shout at Superfeather though

I tend to agree with this and I'm a massive Manny fan (I've got the T-shirt and DVD's!) and regularly watch his old fights to keep it fresh in my head how entertaining he was and still can be, the PEDS thing still creeps into my head though and spoils it. I think Paulie was right, to keep the power and workrate and stamina up the way he did through the weights was just a tad suspect.

One things for sure Manny is not the sharpest tool in the box so if there was an elite level doping programme I'm not sure he would even know much about it. Add on the size of his entourage and I'm surprised nobody has spilled the beans to date as he has cut a lot of them (promoters also) loose over the years. There are serious doubts over Floyd also but in both cases I would say innocent until proven otherwise. Paulie has sounded bitter to me over the years he talks as if he is the only clean athlete in the sport and that was the reason for his shortcomings when in reality he just didn't have the same attributes of other fighters of his generation.

I think Mayweather will be more appreciated as time goes on , I’m not really a boxing historian and don’t watch or see much boxing before my time ( pre 1990 ) but Mayweather could of had harder tests at certain times which never happened and s a Shame because he probably wins them all.

Watching Loma lose to Lopez has confirmed to you that Mayweather was better than Sugar Ray Robinson?

Not quite sure I follow the logic on that one, but everyone's entitled to an opinion.

I rate Mayweather highly, but I'm not sure there's a credible basis to even start an argument for him being the greatest ever.

Ive never really seen Ray Robinson much ...i know its fashionable to make him the best ever

Perhaps i should have said Mayweather is the greatest of this era

My logic was i thought Loma was going to clean up in a few weights....reality is he didnt and Floyd did ,so his resume is getting better and better

You should watch the footage available, a remarkable fighter. I don’t think there’s much public (if any) footage of his 147 days, which is where he was considered his best. Heard rumours some rich **** owns most of it and has it stashed somewhere, you never know

    Mayweather is not the GOAT.

Just F OFF with this nonsense.

go and look at some of the real greats throughout history, I mean legitimate greats, Mayweather isn't cut from the same cloth.

Mayweather was the best P4P fighter of his era, i will accept that, that's more reasonable but greatest P4P of ALL TIMES...

    NO, NO WAY ON EARTH.

Shrewdest of all time possibly. Greatest of alltime. Not a chance imo.

Mayweather was essentially a spoiler at heart. I think its incredible seeing all the entertaining fighters over the years...that a spoiler would even be considered the greatest of all time. No one even thought of him anywhere near the goat...till his own team started chanting it as a mantra. His fights we,re basically negating the opponent then pot shotting to a points win. He was more entertaining earlier in his career...but against the better guys the template was pretty consistant.

Had a fantastic career but used his a side status better than most. Picked guys on the slide or at the right time. Brought guys up in weight etc. No one can argue he was great but looking through his career....he did get a lot of them names at the right time.

P4p of his generation....career wise i definetely think so. Hard work going undefeated all that time...taking on guys that up their game everytime. But in terms of entertainment of his generation....not a chance. His career was boring tbh. Just marketed himself brilliantly. Thats what sold his fights ...only so many times you can watch him...offset his opponents footwork....to then sneak a jab or that in before getting back to nullifying his opponent again.

Technically it was very good but it was never technically as good as say lomachenko,s offense. It does come at a cost as lomachenko found out the other night. But nullifying opponents is always gonna be easier than opening opponents up.

Not many opponents stick to mayweathers gameplan like he did or could afford to. They just took a very good fighter....marketed him brilliantly picked guys at the righy time...then fought safety first. Unlike most guys...he never really had to come out of his safety first strategy due to the expert marketing.

All that being said....he was one of the shroudest we,ve seen. I mean that in a good way. He,s one of the very few that truely won at boxing. Undefeated. I genuinely think he was as well. Had him down as beating castillo twice. First was close but had him a point or two up. Had him beating maidana as well. Close but he just done enough for me.

Was also a great fighter and had the best career of his generation with the unblemished record etc but greatest of all time. Not possible imo with his style of fighting. He was almost anti entertainment barring a handful of fights.

Great achievements. Great fighter. One of the shroudest boxers ever. Best overall career of his generation. But that style of fighting comes at a price. That price is you can never really be considered as the best of all time imo anyway.

Mayweather is the best of a generation but for me he waited far too long to fight the best names in the last 8 or 9 years of his career.

Also Mayweathers legacy over the sport has harmed it, never have boxers been bigger divas screaming about A side and protecting that 0.

He beat Margarito for the WBC super welterweight title.
