Mayweather-Guerrero for Ring Title

Even under The Rings' rules before the rule change almost a year ago, this fight would have been for the vacant WW lineal title.

if jmm, who i think is a harder fight than guerrero at this point, doesnt want to challenge for top spot, then i have no problem with floyd and guerrero establishing top spot.

 

Not necessarily. They would only allow 1-3 match-ups be for the belt on select occasions. Bradley-Alexander and Mosley-Margarito for instance were not for The Ring belt prior to the dumb rule changes. And of course, it's just as problematic to even have Guerrero as high as 3 anyway.

 

Yeah, there are plenty of times when 1+2 is simply not sensible. There's too much clinging to that. But, along that line, I think it should be clearly stated that if number two (or number one contender if not vacant) doesn't want it and they do this, they should just downgrade the man that doesn't want it and it will become one and two.
