Although this may have landed ShoTime in the red, in the future it will probably pay off. Many viewers are becoming more aware of showtime as a source for boxing.(They are building their boxing brand up again, which has been completely in the shadows of HBO in recent years)
Jmm ko'd Pac and now Manny is on the bandwagon of OSDT. Floyd's last ppv supposedly disappointed. Floyd-Canelo has been made. Looks like tough times are bringing out the best of these guys. Look, I don't care if they have to eat **** because if that's what it takes for them to provide what is needed for the sport of boxing then I can't complain and criticize.
the source is from an article on Forbes's site and they cite their sources as Showtime and others outside the network insist the Guerrero fight will narrowly beat the one million mark once everything is counted, while other boxing insiders told Forbes that the fight is likely to top out at 875,000 buys.
This one sure feels right though! :deal Bet we get a presser or four on this one. Got casuals already texting me about it... Let's see what Schaefer and Haymon have in store for the undercard now. They can rest on the fact that this thing is going to sell itself or... They can really go balls to the wall and shoot for history. Though as Southpaw pointed out, it runs expenses pretty high.
:rofl:rofl:rofl This is what these guys made this thread and are all using as proof? :rofl:roflatsch Forbes listed 0 sources, 0. Showtime's boss says one thing, but we'll use the numbers from the unnamed source. I should have known.
yeah I feel you :yep My brother almost jumped out his seat too when he heard the news as well. Even Skip Bayless was impressed on ESPN. and I'm interested in the undercard as well. They may want to keep the costs down to make up for the last fight. I think Garcia/Matthysse would be fine on it's own with Peterson/Judah on the undercard what do you expect man
Utter nonsense. History already sees Floyd as the greater fighter When did Michael Jordan call Oscar the Bobby fisher of boxing.
Still good numbers. ....but damn... $12 million L for SHO is a big loss. CBS won't be happy but they have a 5 fight contract. They will try to make the biggest fights with solid under cards to make up the difference and start chipping away at that deficit. Floyd vs Pac may happen if Floyds next fight fails to meet their expectations. I wonder if SHO had a clause in their contract to renegotiate Floyd's contract for not generating a certain amount of revenue?
i'd like to know where showtime think the money is going to come from after the canelo fight... i dont see big numbers anywhere with the opponents available its one thing giving the PPV money man a monster contract after hes fought the biggest names, but i dont think showtime have come close to doing their homework on where its going to come from now
