Floyd should stay retired would hate to see him loose because of his age. At this point i don't think he could achieve anymore critics will still complain he ducked someone.

In his prime pbf was so good that he didn't need to get into a war. The closest prime fight that was a war was Jesus Chavez and that was a pretty much one sided one. When you can hit people and make them miss why in the hell would you need to go to war and take unnecessary punishment. This is chess not checkers:deal:

He never fought anybody that really made him get into a war, but his best win against a prime opponent was JLC. And that guy came very close to beating him. I'm pretty sure if he fought Shane Mosley, DLH, Duran, Pryor, etc. in their prime things may have been different. And Mayweather may have to dig a little deeper. Because JLC is no Pryor, that's for sure.

When you have as much skill as Mayweather you would expect him to be able to handle the Gatti's, the Hatton's, the Corrales', the Baldimor's, etc. Floyd never really fought a great opponent unless they were small, old or both.

Sometimes going into a war is the only way to win the fight. Even Ray Leonard needed to go to war to beat Tommy Hearns. And that guy is about as a complete a fighter as you can imagine. Even more complete than Mayweather was.

When you start fighting guys the caliber of Tommy Hearns you can't just always rely on your boxing skills to lower the output and fight backwards. Because now we're talking about guys who are almost impossibly good at boxing. It's hard to even describe how good at boxing a guy like Tommy Hearns is.

Pbf was injured going into that fight with jlc he even complained to his corner during the fight about his shoulder a healthy pbf in the rematch won going away. Pbf didn't need to go to war this is boxing the sweet science the art of hitting and not getting hit and pbf was the master of it. He completely took people apart and shut them down in his prime only losing a handful of rounds in the process. Mosley would have been tooled Oscar lost most of his big fights and pbf with a faded pea were arguably the two best he ever fought. These guys were not the types to go to war anyway. Pryor would have been interesting I'll give you that but imo he ultimately would get outboxed by the superior boxer.

The problem with your point is that srl didnt have better pure boxing ability than hearns and couldn't outbox him. I can't think of any boxer in history that could outbox a prime Tommy hearns:deal: outfight but not outbox theres a difference. Srl knew he couldn't outbox hearns and switched it up.

Mayweather-Burton/Augustus (in HBO's ill-fated KO Nation slot) was a pretty gnarly affair, with Floyd coming off a layoff that had resulted from his differences with the network. Gnarly enough that Floyd Sr., who had been relieved of his duties during the hiatus, immediately pointed to it as evidence that his son was more vulnerable without him at the helm.

He came out banging against Corley, also, as I recall.

There were bouts in which Floyd deliberately set about selling himself as an attractive TV fighter in his pre-DLH years, but he was always savvy enough to avoid such open engagement with the guys who were more likely to make him pay for it.

Only haters would take joy in seeing Floyd get laid out now
I truly enjoyed watching Maidana pound on Floyd but as we all witnessed Floyd came back in the rematch and pushed his szhit in hard
Stay retired Floyd and keep that reputation and record strong

Excellent point I don't know how i forgot about that fight. It was indeed a tough fight for pbf and harder than the Jesus Chavez fight.

Floyd coming back for GGG would be stupid. He might as well fight Canelo for even bigger money.

Bet you Golovkin would go even further down for a Floyd fight.

    Oooh. A real good one.
I would love to see Spence in there. I think Floyd schools him. That dude has no head movement.
