mayweather has been accused of fighting negatively all his career.

yes he did fight aggressively against mosely. my point about his evolution as a fighter includes the mosely fight along with his fights against, ortiz, marquez and hatton.

the reason i give him more respect after the cotto fight is because cotto is an elite fighter, at his preferred weight.... and ok if he's not in his prime he's not far from it.

Floyd is not the kind of guy who will stand in there if he dont have to come on its not disrespectful to admit a fighter has gotten older he is 35 lets be honest here, his legs do not work the way they use to but they are still good enough to get the job done.

The 145 limit with pac at that time was the best version of Cotto I have seen he did more damage on pac than any other fighter, well it looked that way but you can not say that Floyd fought a better version.
Cottos body has been abused a bit since pac so if anything he was a little bit softer than the cotto Pac fought.

thats right his legs are starting to go, and his reactions are slowing but he's altered his style, by keeping the center of the ring and working on the inside more. people used to dismiss him as negative and he's showing he isnt. he's showing he's not defined by just style and athleticism but he's a fighter in the true sense of the word. he's showing he has heart. for that i like him a whole lot more.

Yes that is what I am telling you why dont you think so? cus Floyd didnt knock him out at 154?

Manny would come in at 151, and at that weight in fact at 150 he dominated Margarito who was the first to beat Cotto so yes I say he beats Cotto each and every time they fight.

no way.... the cotto that fought mayweather would handle manny if you ask me.
he would enter the ring at least 6lbs heavier than manny and would over power him imo.

was. not anymore. he's a beast at 154.. at least the one that floyd fought. after defeating marg clean, he was at a high. now after losing cleanly, let's see what he has left.

Good thread OP. It's amazing what people will say to discredit fighters. Floyd and Cotto both brought it, and without any draining stipulations or advantages into the ring that night

exactly... its great to see mayweather defeat a legit elite fighter at his preferred weight. you can argue that hatton, mosley and marquez all had disadvantages in some way or another in either weight or age, but apart from cotto being SLIGHTLY past his prime this was a brave choice and great win for floyd.

haha... how can people say that was the best cotto???? cotto had just lost to margarito and won SD against clotty. then he had to drop his weight by 3 pounds and fight manny.

against mayweather he just beat margarito comfortably and entered the ring at his prime weight.

what disadvantage for jmm? that was the almost the same version that pac recently lost to, only younger and better. you can make a case for hatton, but still, he was handed his first ko and schooling. shane was in great form when they fought, the power was there. not prime but still great. shane was systematically broken down. the shane pac fought was a shell.
