This thread is ******ed! Why on earth would a fighter who is "afraid" to face Junior Witter even think about stepping into the ring with three living legends in Tszyu, Castillo and Mayweather? Let alone stepping up to Mayweather's weight to challenge for his title on his home turf?

Witter is one of a long line of fighters who seem to spend half their lives mouthing off about Hatton rather than trying to make their own name (Malignaggi, Lovemore Ndou this means you as well). I don't doubt that Witter wants the fight and believes he would win it (I don't think he would but that's neither here nor there). But rather than talking about Hatton, if you want it that badly, stick the offer on the table, i.e. let's fight here on this date for this much money. All the banging out tomato cans he did a few years ago did absolutely nothing for his career.

I would like to see Hatton-Witter and I think if Ricky goes back to 140 after the Mayweather fight, he's one of the best opponents out there (Malignaggi and Torres would be good also). But we have to look at the bigger picture. Though we as hardcore boxing fans know Witter is good, the fight would be big in a domestic sense only. These guys are not Benn and Eubank or Lewis and Bruno. Hatton is well known, Witter ain't a household name in his own living room. The fight would sell out a stadium, so would Hatton against my grandma. Witter struggled to sell out Alexandra Palace for his world title shot.

I think Hatton will lose on saturday (really hope I'm wrong) and as stated if he returns to 140, I would like to see this fight. But right now it does little for Hatton's legacy compared with mixing it with Tszyu, Castillo, Mayweather and DLH.

Hatton is the man at 140. Why? Because he beat the man.

Witter has beaten Harris. Hatton has beaten Zoo and Castillo.

I think Witter has a good style to beat Hatton but so what? Witter would have got schooled by the Zoo that fought Hatton for one thing.

No one here is complaing about Hatton not fighting PBF. But for British bragging rights aswell as his legitmacy as the best at 140 Hatton MUST face all contenders.Ironically thats how boxing has always been.The number 1 fights the number 2.And what better than 2 of the best 140lb fighters in the world from the same country.

His style, power and chin = too much of a risk, too dangerous for Ricky.

I like witter a lot, especially after knocking out harris (who i cant stand), and if hatton loses the fight and goes back to 140, he must finally face witter.

 

Problem is Tuffy ESB has changed so much and so many of the fans here are just casual arm chair fans there not clued up enough to know the spats between Hatton and Witter or the history.All they know is the usual diatribe they all repeat, Witter doesnt deserve Hatton, Who has Witter beat, He lost to Judah bla bla bla..atsch

There is NOTHING immortal about Ricky.He doesnt even have the best tenure at 140 in the past 10 years.His a good fighter but his NOT great.His win over Kostya as good as it was is farily shallow consdering the manner of the victory and Kostyas age and inactivity. If it was prime Kostya vs Hatton there wouldnt even be an argument.PBF has been a world champ for near on 10 years.Thats immortality.Not a guy who picks and choses belt holders in diffrent divisions.This aside Witter Hatton MUST happen if Ricky decides to campaign at 140 again.

 

Fact is this about Witter-)

No one wants to watch the guy fight. He is unbelievably boring to watch. Hatton doesnt need to fight him, even though he probably should have done because it would be too big risk for too little reward.

Witter can be ducked, because no one wants to watch the guy and therefore he has no bargaining power and no drawing power like Hatton does. I dont see that ever changing either, he cant change his style.
