I would like to add that Hatton did previously duck Witter.

That now looks like an excellent decision because he is now facing the p4p no 1 and getting $ 10 million for the job.:D

He will fight one more fight and retire, having never faced Witter.

Guess you never saw him vs N`dou or his recent destruction of Harris, or his 15 fight KO streak. Real boring stuff right there.:rofl

How can anyone say that Hatton isnt exciting to watch:huh . He comes to win, unlike a certain other fighter we all know I am referring to.

Also he has 20k worth of fans following across to the USA. He also has the highest betting stats of any sporting event in living memory in the UK, and any other big british fight in History. Does that make it clear to you now?:patsch

Was it exciting to watch his hugathon with Urango? Was it scintillating watching him eak out a close decision vs Collazo? Fighters have there off nights but your just talking **** and writing the same crap you`ve read somewhere.

How come his fights dont sell for ****? No one wants to watch the guy?:huh

Exciting fighters sell fights, and get people through the door. Witter never has and never will.:yep

I have seen alot of his fights, and his style is awkward and sophisticated but it isnt exciting to watch. Thats just my opinion.

if you consider illegal moves such as tying your opponents arms up and hitting him whilst he can defend himself, intentional low blows and jumping on your opponent for a hug so you can get a quick breathers ala urango and collazo exciting, then all the more power to ya.

ricky can take all the fans he wants to the states, i'd wager that half of them know jack**** about the sport and simply go out there because wicky is a good working class lad etc. supports city and all that wank. but anyone with a clue knows that as far as the UK goes, he lives in the boxing shadow of the supernatural one, check that **** :deal

I am not saying that Hatton has been perfect in his last 4 fights.

As you say, the Collazo performance was shockingly bad the worst I have ever seen him. The Urango fight, he was hanging on and getting hit way too much.

However, we are talking about popularity and the reason Witter never got his shot.

The reason he never got his shot at Hatton, was because Hatton could say you dont sell for **** therefore I am not fighting you. Even though I concede, unlike alot of the others here that there was a point 5 or 6 fights ago when this fight should have happened.

What's with all these ****ing brits who claim they're the only ones who "know anything" about Witter? Its not as if you can't download every one of his fights for the last five years anywhere in the world. I've seen him fight and he's got a very interesting and unusual style. He has good reflexes and good pop. I think in a rematch with Judah it would go differently, or at least he'd look better.
But he has achieved nowhere NEAR what Hatton has. Tszyu alone is bigger than anything on Witter's resume, not to mention Castillo. Biggest name on Witter's record is Harris and that he was the first guy to knock down N'dou. Big deal. I'd like to see Witter/Hatton as much as the next guy but it's up to Witter to EARN a shot at the big names, not just sit around and whine about it not being handed to him.

And when the **** did we start believing everything Paul Malignaggi says about boxing? Christ some of you are idiots

the fact that hatton is a massive draw cancels out the fact that witter ain't much of a draw. the bloke took thousands across the pond to watch him fight collazo, urango and a shot to pieces JLC.

hatton could fight me at the MEN arena tomorrow night and pack it out. this excuse simply doesn't wash. if marketed right they could make great money, two british world champs in a unification showdown after a long drawn out rivalry.

The reason why the fight never happend is because Hatton knows Witter could upset his gravy train. He was guided very carefully by Frank early in his career for the right reason. If the excuse not to face your biggest rival is "you wont sell tickets" then Ricky is a fraud. He faced a who`s who list of nobodies pre Kostya.NONE of those men sold tickets. But Rickys huge following of football gnomes from Machester filling up the M.E.N to half a mil pop was beauty to FW and Hattons pockets. It wouldnt matter wether Hatton had faced Ivor Bigun up the road it still would have sold out.The excuse is weak and horridly pathetic.
