It easy to forget that he will be 35 the next time he steps into the ring because of his adolescent personality, but the fact is that even if he loses to Cotto, he can claim age as a factor. Just like with Jones, I dont think history will hold his losses against him. It will be in the books that he beat everyone he fought in his prime and like Roy, dominated for over a decade. matter of fact, the same goes for Manny, who has a lot of ring years on him.

The thing with Mayweather is he is undefeated and a **** talker, proclaiming he is the greatest. A loss would be huge.

People can look back in the future and see he was undefeated until he hit the age of 35, but right now, that won't matter. They'll trash him anyways.

Then people like to bring up Corrales going to jail as an excuse for his performance against Mayweather, but I bet it wouldn't be used here.

Then they called Oscar a part time boxer/promoter and old when he fought Floyd, but it wouldn't be used here either.

Lucky for Floyd, he'll retire undefeated, so no worry of that :hey

The fact that he avoided alot of big matchups during his retirement and even after it, a loss now and Mayweather's legacy does take a significant hit.

Where exactly do you place him in the place of history?

Mayweather achieve virtually nothing and is furthest overrated skill wis vice that I can comprehend. His legacy is the legacy of a mute with cripple sperm wis his sister ovaris to janitor in a cold attic rotted with black mold on ceiling and asbestos. We no need care for this puppyganger. Pacquiao is greater than and still small asiatic is underrate.

But his resume is pretty solid. Loses or not, he beat a lot of good fighters. Not prime hof fighters, but he dominated a lot of guys that were hard to dominate. I dont think anyone claims he has the best ever resume now, and that wouldnt chance with a loss.

I have him between 50-70. Add two losses, ill still have him there. Its about what fighters accomplish to me. Most great fighters lose at the end of their careers. Had Floyd lost that fight to Castillo and came back to do everything hes done since, Id still have him in that same range, but id like him more for showing he could come back from a loss in his prime.

I have him top 50. A loss to Cotto drops him out. A loss to Pac would not.

It depends on who he loses to.

    Agreed Keith.

No one knocks Robinson for the Maxim loss.

It would be nice if Floyd claims to be better than SRR - To take on a Martinez at 160 where a loss does nothing to his legacy whereas a win propels him further.

Mayweather is not a risk taker. If he was, he could very well be ranked in the top 10 now easy.

Yep, although critics will always be the harshest on Mayweather, if Mayweather lost it'd be because he got exposed, was never as good as people thought etc.

Can't believe I actually agree with you on something. A guy who takes two years off at a stretch and fights once a year can fully expect to have his legacy crushed by a loss.
