A loss is not detramental to his place in history what is detramental is the fact a lot of his best wins are not aginst the prime best version of the fighters either weight or age his reluctancy to fight biggest fights in front of him will always be a question the boy can flat out box no? but his willingness to be the best will always be a ? shane at lw oscar in early ww days pac a couple years ago margo 5 or 6 years ago paul willams 2 or3 years ago vernon forrest when he was top ww **** pac now what about sergio martinez .

So Roy Jones also stepped up in competition frequently, he was p4p #1 for a long time???? P4P is all about opinions.

 @ Cotto (who never beat a champ with a belt until Foreman)

Martinez was a nobody until 2009 & he was already in his 30's who's best win is vs a guy who was outboxed and owned by Carlos Quintana...

    Bradley??:patsch

    Alvarez?:dead

so beating these guys will put him into the top 10? LMAO

so what Prime HOF Monsters did Mayweather avoid from 130 and up?

BTW Shane was already at 147lbs when Mayweather was at Lightweight....:tired

Oscar in his early WW days?...they weren't even in the same weight classes man...how could Mayweather duck Oscar? LMAO

early WW days of Pac?..you mean in 2009? Didn't Mayweather come out right after the Pac-Cotto fight and call Pac out ( I can post the interview he did with Sky Sports if you'd like) then Pac turned around and fought Joshua Clottey (after Clottey lost to Cotto)

Now Mayweather ducked Forrest?...well maybe you didn't know this but Al Haymon fighters don't fight each other also did you know that Forrest Lost to Mayorga twice.......
    :smooch

There is probably more than that who accomplished more with lesser skills and talent.

In the mythical pound for pound, Gayweather is top 10. In ATG status where who you fought counts, even the *****s cannot agree who is the greatest win in Gayweather's career.

ok what I said was "technically".....also you must realize in the early years of boxing every fighter fought more frequently, but that doesnt mean they were greater because they fought more. To me it means they would fight anyone at anytime no matter if they were in shape physically or mentally and would fight on last minutes notice just to get a check to be able to provide for their families. I don't care if you fought 100 times and every time you fought was a massacre and a war and all that......if you weren't fighting with adequate training or physical or mental health then the how do we gauge the fights.

Numerous fighters from the early ages fought bums and guys that weren't even full time boxers.

Im speaking on "technical brilliance" whether it be offensively or defensively.....there is not 70 boxers who are better than Mayweather in that category. Lets be honest here.....

The man has fought 4 times in the last five years , three of those have been against naturally smaller fighters. Floyd has filled out into a strong 147 lbs figthter.

Change Hatton to Cotto / Marg / Williams. Change JMM to anybody at 147 within the top 10 at that time. Shane no problems . Ortiz - please.

Outside of these names you are telling me Ndou , Brussels , Baldomir and Mitchell were the best available ? If they were then OK , but you wouldnt see them on Oscars resume when he was in his prime.

Somewhere we needed Tszyu, Cotto , Marg, Williams . These were the top fighters , fighting in the same times and same weights , yet these fights didnt happen . Gatti at 140 , please I love Gatti but come on.

The arguments these fools make always looks like...
    @ 130:
    Casamayor
    Freitas
    @ 140:
    Kostya
    @ 147:
    Williams
    Cotto
    Margarito
    Pacquiao
    @ 160:
    Sergio

None of which have any legitimacy, especially going back and looking at the "supposed year" of when Floyd allegedly ducked said fighters.

Funny that he has Genaro Hernandez, Diego Corrales, Emanuel Augustus, Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, and soon to be Miguel Cotto on his resume and people claim he didn't fight the biggest names of his generation. That's an All Star lineup of names from this generation. He damn near fought EVERYONE, which simply isn't possible.

The man retired for two years so that Marg , Cotto , Williams and Mosley beat the **** out of each other . Dont say he damn near fought everyone when he clearly didnt.

My point is that our generations greatest talent didnt fight the best names in their primes and please he is a favourite of mine but dont put the JJM fight in there , that was just a sparring session against a fighter who was 10lbs heavier than he should ever be.
