History will judge Floyd inside the Top 40 no matter what happens in the remainder of his career. In the present day people will put everything on his undefeated record, but things are always more dramatic in the current moment.

I doubt it. There weren't fighters in his weight class to make him a top 10 atg. The only way that would happen is if he cleaned out 3 or 4 weight classes.

If he loses then people will say, "I told you Floyd is overrated". People will always dislike Floyd. He probably won't get praised until he is 50. Personally I don't believe a loss at 35 will destroy his legacy. He beat very good fighters for 16 years and didn't lose. One loss doesn't take away 16 years.

If mayweather loses to Cotto is because Cotto beat him plain and simple, it doesn't mean it happened because he was old. Mayweather is 35 and has no ring wear and tear. he hasn't fought threats or been in any wars. Let's stop making excuses for him already. A loss does affect him, because it proves that he wasn't as good as he claimed to be, because he lost as soon as he setepped up in competition.

maybe but to me floyd cant afford to lose at all. some many haters in the world that dont even respect the man's craft in the ring. its not about never losing in boxing, even the very best lose at some point. but mayweather cant afford to lose at all. PERIOD sucks to have to go undefeated not really but he will have to do it.

He's Over-Rated!! If Floyd would of fought the best he would have 3 or 4 losses by now. Floyd is smart and a student of the Boxing game. He knew who to duck...And when to duck them! Floyd's record of 42-0 is only a few levels above JCC Jr's record of 45-0! Just sayin.. Oh and Castillo tapped that already. Floyd is really 41-1.. Most REAL fans know this

    Disagree, main reason = inactivity

Age wise Money is 35, ring age he is alot younger, also his retirement set him back as he left the division when it was smoking, had he remained dominant in that time, then yes you would be correct. Mayweather is a strategist and not "Battle Worn" so many people do not clearly define him as the guy who done it. To sum it up Money's age is 35, "ring age" = 29-30

Cotto has no chance but deserves this pay day, so I will support it. Money should have fought Sergio Martinez at 154

Floyd put it on himself by saying he is the GOAT because he never lost. He is a villain who hasn't been defeated yet. If he loses alot of people will say he was overrated. It does suck for Floyd but he seems up to the challenge. He will probably fight 2-3 more times after the Cotto fight and retire. I think he can do it. It will be difficult if he fights who he is suppose to(Pacquiao and Martinez).

You know someone's a moron when they use "being in wars" as a measure of greatness. There's nothing heroic or courageous about "being in a war". It's the barstool mentality that is becoming more and more prevalent with the rise of MMA.

There was a time during Mayweather's retirement that Cotto, Margarito, and Paul Williams were highly respected.

Margarito coming off his destruction of Cotto was a very plausible matchup for Mayweather. Margarito offered size, chin, and an unbelievable workrate and stamina that at that time could have given Mayweathers low workrate style and defense a problem.
Mayweather turned down the biggest fight purse in his career when he turned down Margarito.

Paul Williams was also a huge size nightmare for any welter. Mayweather never bothered to even acknowleadge Williams.

A great fighter takes on all comers and not just those matchups that suit his style attributes. Mayweather has never done that.

its about the money first and then the challenge. cotto is the 3rd biggest draw in boxing and has a title at 154. mayweather will be 8 x world champion 5 divisions at jr mw limit, meaning no catch weights. fighting a champion not fighting for a vancant belt at a made up weight class.oh cotto is a champ not coming of ko or tko or loss.at 154 if i forgot to say it, big difference in what floyd is doing and what manny did. floyd fighting champs at there weight coming off wins. im only interested in mayweather vs martinez at 160 for the mw belts, go hard or go home.

i disagree when it comes to a fighter like Cotto he should win this fight. however, if he happens to lose to one of these young up and comers in the future then u can make a case for aging. theres no shame in someone over 30 losing to young hungry champ.
