Mayweather has the style to give Pac fits and SHOULD win on paper, BUT...

Mayweather lacks power, and if he doesn't have the power to hurt Pac, he's in a world of trouble, regardless of how good his boxing skills are.

This is what keeps guys like Calderon at the lower weight classes.

Mayweather was unable to put away Marquez despite throwing everything in his arsenal at the guy, and even when he was putting away N
Dou at 135 or 140 it took shot after shot after shot to finally put the guy away.

So while Mayweather has better skills than Pac, if he can't hurt the man, he's may take a beating like we've never seen before, at least somewhat similiar to the beating his Sr took against Ray Leonard who Sr was unable to hurt.

That's the one thing that people have to put into perspective because while I do believe Cotto's power has always been overrated, Manny took his best shots without flinching...

read some of roachs old interviews when they were caling out mayweather before may vs marquez fights. he pretty much says they will just go after him take the punches and give a hurtin to his body and take a shot when hes broken. pretty much push aside the defense with pure offense not worrying about accuracy to the head but more power to the whole for how many rounds it takes mostly becuase they dont respect his power. this was before the cotto fight. so they probably know how skillfull he is but they seem to want to take a mallet to his needle

Mayweather has the style to beat Pac clearly in my opinion. He will do so if they fight.

So who else has KO'd Marquez? And I don't think Mayweather through everything at Marquez, he played it safe and tried to shift any ring rust.

He doesn't have monster power, but he's quick enough to land punches right on the button and that's all it really takes to drop a guy. A quick punch on the chin that you don't see coming and it's like hitting a switch. Brain rattles, legs go out and you're down and maybe done. Punching power is as much a function of timing and accuracy as raw power, which is why Pac put Cotto down twice with unexpected punches, but couldn't get him down when he was full on teeing off in later rounds.

It's hard to tell with Mayweather because he's generally so cautious, but other than maybe the 10th round he never looked like he was trying to get Marquez out of there and Marquez is a tough mother****er, regardless.

In any case, Mayweather does have at least enough pop to keep guys honest. Even Oscar, who dwarfed Floyd and has a granite chin, gave him respect and got stung and a bit wobbled by a counter uppercut Floyd hit him with.

Yea and Pac was able to put JMM away both times he fought him...WAIT...
Hmmm no he didnt if anything Pac was actually hurt by JMM.
    JMM never even buzzed PBF.
Ask Hatton or DLH if PBF has power. PBF buckled DLH knees with a counter hook. Pac after landing all those power shots never even managed to do that.

PBF has plenty of power to put PAc away.

Whoa whoa, I don't recall sayin anything about Pac not bein able to put Marquez away...

I was talkin about a guy with a massive weight advantage not bein able to put a guy away...

So what ya'll are sayin is Mayweather punches harder than Cotto?

    Be real...

    Mayweather doesn't have power...

I mean ****, if you think Mayweather can win the fight, that's fine, but his power is a HUGE question mark...

And if you check my previous thread on why Pac beats Mayweather, I highlight the reasons why, BUT after seein Pac take flush punches from Cotto without flinching, it put some new insight into my prediction...

What you think Mayweather Sr. was worried about?

Are ya'll just some dick riders... I mean ****, at least be objective...

Be like, yeah Mayweather doesn't have great power, but I think he has enough to keep Pac honest....

Don't be like, Mayweather is a KNOWN puncher...

Mayweather has the speed and accuracy to knock anyone out. A knockout punch, more often than not, is about hitting the right place at the right time, not hitting hard. Accumulation knockouts are a function of punching force, but anyone with the speed, accuracy, and at least a bit of power can delivery a KO punch. Mayweather has those attributes, which is why he was able to put Hatton away.

That said, Mayweather rarely knocks guys out because he's fundamentally a defensive fighter and doesn't take enough chances to do so, at least not anymore. He has enough power that Pac won't walk through his punches but I doubt he'll get a KO.

Still, the guy has a 65% or so KAYO ratio so he's not exactly featherfisted.

Both men were able to drop Marquez so they are about even. Floyd looked like he has filled out a bit too. I wanna say he will win a UD being ahead a good 3 points but I just cant. Nobody is getting outboxed, it will be close. Floyd can land clean but he won't land enough for a points victory. I just don't see Floyd winning a blood n guts type of fight.
