As a Professional Hater, I would say he's already in the Top 10 of All time...and is the most hated, active boxer on Earth today...
I would agree. How many times did that guy have to escape a lynch mob? Plus the harassment...death threats.... If you haven't read and/or seen Unforgivable Blackness, do so.
hated for obvious reason, some on here have said it is because he is young, black, goodlooking and walthy but i just think he is a bad role model,
Not quite... As BigReg said, Jack Johnson is right up there. Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali, in the 1960s, was very hated across America.
New to the sport, much? His hatred doesn't exceed that of the previous p4p no. 1 (if we're going by Roy Jones, technically it was Hopkins, who wasn't as hated). The hatred for the LAST good/great heavyweight, Lennox Lewis, was just as bad, too. Once Floyd retires and after a few years of his little ***** ass not being in front of the cameras, people will start to appreciate his career more. Happens EVERY TIME And yet people still fall for it.
Jack Johnson by a mile. This man could have been literally murdered by the crowd and nothing would have came of it.
Well, if more casual fans knew who Judah was, he'd take the currently-most-hated title IMO. I must say however, as a Judah hater, I gained a little more respect for him in his loss to Cotto. Muhammad Ali was pretty hated for a while there. First he was considered a big loud mouth that needed shutting-up, then he was considered "anti-american". It really wasn't until his gutty performances after his exile that more people started liking him. I love Ali, btw. Jack Johnson of course is number 1. I can't believe he didn't end up assasinated.
At the Grand Arrival in the lobby of the MGM Grand hotel, Hatton was cheered to the rafters while Mayweather was greeted with a chorus of boos in the city he calls his home. Hatton said: If I got a reception like that in Manchester, Id hang my head in shame.
