i'm not just talking to talk...it's true. Floyd has perfected the art of winning rounds without even showing intent to hurt opponent nor punch them hard. To me, the defensive fighter who is running should have the burden of doing more. Why? cause if two Flody Mayweathers fight, there wouldn't be a fight at all. The degree of difficulty to attack, avoid counters and make the first move is higher than the fighter waiting to counter, being defensive, risking less and just waiting for right moment to pounce. don't get me wrong, Floyd wins many rounds cause he lands more than his opponents but it is absolutely true that he also wins many rounds without doing anything; he merely dances and dazzles judges with movement. Just put on floyd vs maidana 2 first round and tell me why Floyd won that one... cause he looked better? I would score that to Maidana without any hesitation; he at least was trying to force the action.
You don't have to intend to hurt or hurt your opponent to win a round.. The object of the game is hit and not get hit.. Like basketball, 2 points is 2 points if it's a dunk over 2 people or a fast break layup... You keep bringing up round one like the first round usually isn't a feeling out round.. I think the champ should win the round unless the challenger takes it from him like the championship rounds.. The first round isn't all that great anyway...
