Fluid needs to know there's a difference between fighting and running. Heck I can run against Fury, big deal. This must be his special I'm coming to knock you out.

Agreed, Floyd beating Canelo for the true championship does little for me. Sure going 130 to 160 would be amazing he would be rematching a guy he nearly shutout. Sure Canelo is a lot more experienced now and is only bigger and better and Floyd slower and older but I don't see a drastically different outcome

Golovkin may not have the true title but he is the man to beat at middle. I know others posted GGG is the new boogeyman who "fans" want to see take Floyd's 0 and that to a degree is true. But what does thst speak to Floyd's greatness? It means the only guy out there anyone safely picks over Floyd is a guy a weight higher than Floyd's highest and an absolute monster puncher. To me it speaks volumes about how great his haters must think he is if this is the guy they need to summon to beat him

If Floyd moved up and won that would be a massive accomplishment

Back to OP. No Jacobs has a made up no valued belt but the scalp itself off the win he's off of would be amazing

    :good

...and technically, for all intents and purposes it does give Floyd the distinction on paper of winning titles from 130 up to 160. (unless you take a very hardline stance on not counting interim belts)

Golovkin represents the best of both worlds - a legitimate championship at middleweight as icing on the cake of Mayweather's legacy (though a slightly lesser version of the MW championship than Canelo has) plus a legitimate elite true MW scalp (more so than Jacobs would be, and considerably more than Canelo II)

I would say the GGG situation at middle is a very unique scenario probably very similar to black murderers row where there is this clear obvious guy on the landscape and the champs just wont fight him

Sturm, Martinez, Cotto and possibly Canelo are all doing everything they can to not fight this guy and it is just getting kind of sick now

I know this may anger boxing purists who live by the lineal sword but is it outrageous to just say Golovkin is the champ? I mean everyone knows he is the best at the weight class, even his biggest haters must know this. He has 2 of the belts and has been mandated for a fight for the 3rd that seems on the verge of alluding him

Floyd beating GGG is better than any other win at 160 so if Floyd wants to go up and get the most meaninful win GGG is that win plain and simple RING Belt or not

He doesn't hold an interim belt, he holds a regular title, which is even worse in my eyes. Lots of credit for beating Jacobs no doubt, but if you're going to go for middleweights, may as well go all the way and try to secure an actual title.
