You're plain and simply wrong. The Ali who beat Liston, Williams and Terrell was a sonic leap forward for a heavyweight boxer, one of the most talented fighters in history. In the mid 70s, Ali had lost a lot of those physical qualities that made him so sensational in the 60s. And he modified his game, keeping his brilliant jab and chin, but becoming a totally different fighter who was still good enough to beat the best of that (very strong) era too. Ali proved to be a far better fighter than Floyd, who did not impress against the two best opponents he ever fought (Castillo and Oscar) but built a reputation on the back of trouncing overmatched opponents (Gatti and so on). Floyd was/is a great fighter, very skilled, but Ali was greater in every way, hence why he had one of the best careers ever and Floyd didn't.
The Spinks comment was rather silly IMO, Ali was 36 yrs old, shot to **** & still won the rematch 11 yrs past his peak & about 4 or 5 yrs after he should have been retired. I enjoy Mayweather`s skills in the ring & I even enjoy the contraversy in most of his interviews but he should show more respect for the greatest. Im sure he says he is better than Robinson at one time also :verysad Joking or serious, doesnt matter, he should lose a limb for that kind of talk.
I'm pretty sure the people commenting about Mayweather being better P4P have actually only seen the Ali that fought Foreman, some probably haven't even seen that fight.
what? mayweather is undefeated because he ducked all potential fighter that can knock him out! mayweather is an idiot:silly
this sort of thing makes me even more certain mayweather will be one of those fighters who'll absolutely break down mentally, go into serious depression, abuse drugs and go into hiding if/when he loses, he's one loss away from becoming a compete reck and i suspect he knows it too, rather like foreman after zaire, george was lucky to come out of it though
sure, a guy who beat all the heavys in the greatest hw era ever is definatly overrated. floyd may think hes better than ali and even if he were its disrespectful to talk about someone who is as big for boxing as ali is.
Why is he so obsessed with "I never lost." I've never lost a fight EVER, but it doesn't make me the greatest now does it?... I swear Mayweather is so ****ing stupid.
This thread has inspired me to ponder how much money I would pay to see that coward hit by a truck or train.
This is exactly what I think. Yeah anyone can be undefeated. Didn't Yori Boy Campas have a 54-0 record once? Guess he was better than Ali since Ali never got that high. Campas should have retired when he was undefeated so he could say he was better than Ali.
Grossed the most as a boxer? C'mon, there's no way he's made more than Mike Tyson (who is in like top 3 spots on PPVs) or De la Hoya. Plenty of people don't even know who he is. Everyone knows who they are. Is he delusional? The difference he's forgetting is that Heavyweights have to fight fighters that come in at any weight, regardless of they weigh 20 pounds more and HWs possess extreme knockout power.
