Mayweather: "I'm Not Fighting to Prove to the Boxing Fans Who the Best Is"

    This is a repeat thread. This time instead of Margo we have Pacquiao.

    Revisit this thread. I noticed the glaring similarity between what has happened on the Margo-May talks back then and with Pacquiao now.

    People believe Marg has a good chance of beating Floyd then. Floyd doesn't want to fight him. He said he doesn't fight for legacy, he fights for money but turns down a big payday with Marg to fight another fighter for much less. Now he's doing it again with Pac. Similar arguments are brought forth from both sides. He never fought Margo, I'm afraid the same thing with Pac.

    Do you think the same thing will happen here? Discuss.

    Yes it is a repeat thread. Thank you so much for this. It's enriching the ESB community as we speak. Couldn't you have at least repeated a thread that didn't have to do with Pacweather, Calzaghe or the Klitschkos?

    Well that was a knee-jerk reaction.

    It just sinked in to me now that we may never see Mayweather- Pacquiao. Before this I was hoping that eventually we would. But seeing this history and the pattern which is very similar I'm not as hopeful.

    How about you do you believe it will get made or not?

    ...so that excuse doesn't fly anymore. I know Floyd doesn't like fighting to prove who the best is, but why not kill two birds with one stone.

    But this is exactly the same thing with Margo. Margo at that time was the biggest payday available yet he never fought him.

    Maybe he is milking it for a bigger payday to come along, playing the waiting game. But, I don't buy it. The fight is huge, monsterous, and, he still won't budge. The money will be huge. He looks like the biggest ***** right now. Haye could be right. Maybe the Klits play hard ball with the contracts because they have the upper hand. But, Mayweather doesn't. Pac is just as huge as him. Maybe even bigger.

    no, he instead bout out his contract, got away from arum's grasp and insanely high %, fought baldo for the same $ (and got to keep it all) and the lineal title, and got the ODLH fight (the highest non-HW PPV fight in history) which arum wouldn't guarantee him
