Exactly right. I don't understand how Mayweather keeps being defended time and time again when he refused to fight the best at 147.

Don't think it's a case of ducking Shane there, Shane's credibility was hit really hard for losing to Cotto and Mayweather already said before that fight that he wants to retire and focus on other things. Also, if there was an army of Welterweights that could be considered at the time when Floyd first made 147 then sure I'll agree with you easily but it's only Margarito and it was looked at as was the hype surrounding Harris with no real accomplishments behind either fighter to seriously consider.
