You do realize this statement I bolded goes agzinst pretty much 99.99% of what the Mayweather fans claim? He HAD to fight Brusselles to get to Gatti. Maybe you have not seen that post here. But that was pretty much the consensus with every floyd fan here.

That doesn't surprise me. I guess either me or them are wrong. I'm pretty sure I'm right though. I can't see Bruseles being ranked that high by the WBC. The Bruseles fight was a stay busy fight. Floyd wanted to take no chances and risk the money he was going to make fighting Gatti. As a result, Bruseles was chosen as the sacraficial lamb.

Actually PBF said himself that Cotto was too green for him. So that's actuaully PBF making excuses not Cotto or his team. The interview has been posted on here many times.

Mayweather only will fight fighters that have styles that give him a sure win. If the style doesnt match it, he ducks and avoids. This is why he is known for this. Mayeweather's fans need to start accepting this. Everyone knows this except them. Also, Mayweather announced his retirement so he doesnt have to ever fight a mandatory, and he can then pick whomever he chooses style wise. Sad.

 

What style has Floyd not faced in his career?

 

Today, its The Cotto style, The Margarito style, and the Paul Williams style. Big guns that might catch him. These guys are too risky.

 

There's no type of style called the Paul Williams style, or the Cotto style, or the Margo style. You said he avoids certain styles that doesn't suit him. Tell me what style he has not faced in his career.

 

This is one of the dumbest arguments and some how it keeps cropping up on this message board.

Barrera was so shot he went on to be Morales a 2nd time (convincingly as well unlike the 1st time) and give Marquez a damned good fight (WAY friggen closer than those bs score cards) after fighting him.

Morales was so shot he had actually BEAT Pacman less than a year before the 2nd fight.

Barrera and Morales may not have been prime, but they were anything but shot when the Pacman beat them. This outright bullshittery needs to stop already.

 

I'll tell you, Cotto bangs to the body better than anyone I've ever seen. Banging to the body stops speed. Mayweather needs speed to get away from bangers. Kostya Tsyu cut off the ring better than anyone I ever saw, thus very risky for Mayweather. He doesnt want to get caught. Paul Williams throws in volumes, and can out point him because of size. Mayweather doesn't want to risk it when others would and did. If Ali was like Mayweather, Foreman would still be undefeated.
