if we compare floyd to a car, he's got about 70,000 miles with a single owner who hasn't been driven past 55 miles per hour and is only driven on a very smooth paved road.

pac maybe 3 year later model than floyd but he consistently goes over 55, has way over 100,000 miles in him and roads he travels are very bumpy. same with cotto.

mayweathers defensive style of fighting offers greater longevity in comparison to pacquiaos fan friendly offensive give and take style which doesnt bode well in terms of longevity. so even both fighters are close to passing their peaks, the waiting game still favors mayweather.....

Well, we aren't talking about you are we? Cotto didn't look drained, or fight like he was. Nor did he complain about it. So that is what I am making my judgment on. Not generalities.

And seriously, who cares about the belt? They don't make a fighter BETTER or worse then the other fight at this point in their careers. that's just shooting blanks and trying to use it for ammo.

You know, I can admit Cotto's look good. However, I also take into consideration who he's fought. Everyone and their momma was calling Margarito shot after he barely beat Garcia.

Whether or not Cotto is better at 154 or 147 is another story. He hasn't faced anyone at 154 to allow me to make that decision. YOu can say this and that about his confidence, but dont try to make it out to be a factor, or a factor. that's just your guess on the situation. Lets see Cotto face a top 154 before we praise him as some beast at 154.

Sure, can probably say now it is. But he fought Pac how many years ago? He moved up to 154 because of:
    1. getting beat up there by Pac and Margarito
    2. A title shot against a beatable opponent

That's just my opinion. But before he moved, he never said anything about weight being an issue, or outgrowing 147. He had a chance to be a world champ again. That is what I thought was the biggest factor.

The first half of the Cotto fight was a war.

The first 3-4 rounds were back and forth. I would hardly qualify that as a war. Hell, Marquez has been in more wars, and taken more punishment. He's still going pretty strong at 38. The fact of the matter is, Pacquiao really hasn't been in a war since his first fight with Morales is 2005. The second fight with Marquez was tightly contested, but not really a war. Their 3rd fight was even less physical. All of his other fights since 2005 have been pretty one sided. Manny has been only fighting twice a year since 2009. He's pretty well preserved, and is still fighting at a high level. I don't see much deterioration.

But why are people saying that Cotto was shot when Pac fought him?

I'm not even a Floyd fan but I can see how this fight is going to go. Cotto is very good at most things, but he does not excel at anything. He has no attribute or aspect to his style that he can use as leverage to gain an advantage. Cotto will get stopped.
