After a few days to reflect seeing my favourite fighter get ktfo. Something just dawned on me, not only is Mayweather not the complete tool he acts to get the ppv's, but he really is a good bloke. When he walked over to Ricky at the end of the fight, after weeks of jibes and rancour, and simply said 'listen to them, they love you man'. Now that really shows Floyd to be not only a wonderful fighter but also a fantastic guy. I'm for really hope he goes on to achieve everything in the sport.
He is, he talks all the **** to sell his fights, then respectful afterwards like the Gatti fight, alot of brits in the casino i was watching it in were clapping after the fight. It's just like when we(brits) boo him it all adds to the atmosphere, i'm sure we don't all hate him.
Yes he is a good guy in reality, but IMO he''s kind of bad at acting it as when he tries to be the bad guy he's just too damn Corny.
Have to agree, floyd acts like a dick most of the time but he showed real class afterwards with ricky. I think Im just gonna give up rooting against him & enjoy a once in a generation artist. He`s not always the most exciting (kind of like whitaker) but he certainly is one of the best winners of all time.
I gained a lot of respect for Floyd after the fight. I understand that acting the bad guy might help to sell a fight, but wish he was a gent all the time. The same way he is when he defeats anyone. If Rick had defeated Floyd it would be no different -- he's a good guy. Always. That's what I like about Hatton, he is real, humble, and never changes.
It's odd...you would think that if he acted like the well-spoken gentleman he was after the fight, along with his smile, and of course talent, that he would be a much bigger star than he is now. I wonder if all the posturing about being a tough guy is hurting more than it's helping. If he promoted the fight more like Ali, Leonard, etc, he wouldn't have to be the bad guy. Also, if he fought Mayorga, he wouldn't be the tough guy anyway hahaha.
I'd say yes. In fact I have already said several times that, if he dropped the hardcore gangsta act, he'd be a worldwide hero. Unfortunately, the bad guy act makes people hate him. It also makes people root for the opponent, regardless of their skill level.
When I went to the press conference in L.A. for this fight, Mayweather stayed up there for almost 2 1/2 hours after just to talk to the fans and sign autographs.. Hatton and Oscar dipped on everyone! Mayweathers people were telling him to leave so they can eat and that cat was like "No I'm here for them food and everything else could wait!" Dude was nice as hell just straight down to earth! Funny "I got to ask him about what he thought about Zab Judah (it was right after they supposedly had an incident/altercation at a club and after ZAB got KOED by Cotto) and this dude said.... "You know what, I have nothing bad to say about Zab Judah he is a great fighter but just a hot head. I think when it comes to me, Zab just has a lot of jealousy, he wants what I have. But Zab is a good person and I have nothing bad to say about him!" I was like damn this man is a stand up dude thats clearly good hearted!
