As the post above me says, you can't knock Floyd for turning his situation around and making something of himself. Tyson's early life was very messed up also, but to get out of the ghetto and turn himself into a superstar, I can only respect him. He, like Floyd, gives great hope and inspiration to those who are less fortunate in this world.

It was a bit patronising, even if he meant well.

Despite what he says and does I always have had respect for him as a fighter and how he prepares for fights. Nobody trains harder than him, he is a true pro

Great person and an even better fighter. The guy has a head on his shoulders and will do great things after this is all done. Movies, books, etc... will come soone.

Sometimes the guy can't win. The point I was trying to make was that he said those things to Hatton with nothing to gain. It wasn't done for the cameras. He was just showing compassion for someone who had just had their pride severley dented.

He may do some pretty stupid things (throwing money about, talking sh*te) but at the end of the day the guy had just beaten a dangerous opponent, in a massive fight and who had been taking the p*ss out of him for weeks and generally making look stupid (in the press conferences etc).

Despite all of this he still had the generosity of spirit to think about Hattons feelings, and you could see the respect he had for Hatton.
Hatton is my favourite fighter, and I could never stand Mayweather before, but my god I'm going to support the guy now.

Im born and bred English living less than hour from Manchester and have nothing in common with Mayweather and his life, but the guy did everything to win my respect and support on Saturday.

Of course if there was a rematch ( i hope not) I would hoping Ricky would do the business. But hey ho that's how I feel

Floyd talks **** because he can back it up, and he knows he can back it up. I’m sure it also gets him motivated. But it wasn’t just Floyd, Hatton started it by disrespecting him after the Castillo fight. He also talked **** on 24/7. Ricky should have shown some respect for the P4P #1 and like Floyd said “just be appreciative for this opportunity” also Hatton’s biggest payday ever. After saying **** like “December 8th you watch me take that belt from this clown, lets fookin have im” It doesn’t look when you get knocked out. Ricky owes Floyd an apology. If Floyd would have been a dick to him after fight that would have been fine too

I totally disagree, even though I know he is acting a lot to build up hype, that doesn't undo everything he says and does, if you act like an ass an do uncool **** and disrespect people, you have still done it, even though you might have been acting.

I think a lot he says and does is not an act though.

**** off. It's easy to act respectful after winning. "Money Mayweather" is full of himself and deep down, thinks Hatton is ****.

And Floyd would have to apologize more than any other fighter out there.

Floyd's money persona is probably just part of him that he chooses to show (and exaggerate) before a fight to annoy his opponent and hype the event.

Floyd's trash talk isn't all that tasteless or bad compared to a number of other fighters, he just isn't very funny when he does it.

I'm sure Floyd has a dark side, and so did a lot of other great boxers, and probably more that we don't know about had real ugly sides behind closed doors.

Floyd has said many times before that he acts that way to promote fights. I have not seen a single person mention the millions hes given away to charity (I am from Grand Rapids, and he does). He is outspoken about the fact that boxers are extremely underpaid and unfairly treated by promoters while risking their lives for our entertainment. During the post fight press conference the people in the room were about to start taunting Hatton and he very seriously prompted "none of that, were not going to disrespect any fighter, not here."
