How bout what Roy Jones Jr. did to Richard Hall? The accuracy of these shots towards the end is something I have never seen. [YT]vqJUXp1xQ1I[/YT]
Didn't say he was, but you can't deny the fact that he is a slick southpaw, and one of (if not the) fastest fighters in the game.
I have the link of Pernell Whitaker vs Roger Mayweather: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWh0lVaE1A0 If you are talkin about the Boxing Illustrated article, I have not but I guarantee that is 100% true - 20 out of 25 pick Pernell at 140 against PBF.
He is slick, but in much the same way as Lacy is powerful- only for a few rounds. I do want to say though that PBF's win over Judah is highly underated. Its one of his top wins and doesn't get talked about enough. When I have to work out at home I use 12 round fights as a ring timer and this is one I use (although the riot ****s it up a little)... every time I watch that performance I see so many small things Mayweather was doing. He never once loaded up in that fight but was really giving Judah a beating with short, accurate shots right on the button- all while maintaining his defense. Also, he completely took Zab's game away. Against Corrales, DLH, and Hatton for example his game was just better than their's. But in the Judah fight his game was matched for an instant, and through subtle preasue, ring generalship, and economy he just started to strip Judah's game from him piece by piece and he knew what he was doing the entire time.
That combination Jones puts on Hall at 7:05 of the video and then on the ropes to end it is ridiculous.
HBO people were sayin that Mayweather was just putting pressure on Zab and throwing the right lead with no conviction at all, just a scoring blow, got close, threw a body shot and a left hook upstairs and back again consistently... Roger and Big L sayin Floyd to keep on walking onto him cause he couldn't find leverage in his punches on the back foot and Yoel asking Zab to let his hands go cause Floyd was stealing shots and rounds... Doesn't seem to me that that would work against Pernell since Sweet Pea fights well on the back foot and turning away from str8 rights ( against JCC in San Antonio) while he peppers em with right jabs on the move... Floyd is at his best as a reactive puncher, not as much as improvising much on offense and against a slick defender as Sweet Pea... All these guys he put pressure on ( Phillip NDou, Chop Chop, Bruseles, Sharmba) with accurate blows, should not be compared with Pernell, I think...
My fav part of that Jones fight is the first KD -- the way he's fast enough to actually move behind Hall and then catch him with a hook as Hall turns, flooring him. Amazing.
