Floyd has every possible offensive tool, can fight from any range, can go high and low, dominates world class fighters over 12 rounds with lead rights. Incredible jab, punch variety. What an idiot OP is. Just because his hands are brittle and he's fighting 2 weightclasses above his best doesn't mean that he's an average offensive fighter.

Put him in the 90's? He turned pro in 96. He was fighter of the year in 98.

Floyd Mayweather is NOT a fighter he is a boxer. I don't think he could fight. His skills as a boxer ensured he hasn't had to fight so far

If you simply define offense as simply power and work rate then yes you could say he is poor offensively but that is a flawed definition of offense.

Mayweather is a great counter puncher. He is incredibly accurate regularly landing 40% plus. His right hand pretty much lands at will.

He can fight effectively on the inside, look at how Mayweather was able to dominate on the inside against the much bigger Canelo.

Are there bigger punchers? Yes no doubt. Are there more aggressive fighters? Once again no doubt but to say he is poor offensively is clearly wrong.

He doesnt throw many combinations and isnt known to press the attack adopting a more 'safety first' approach. When he does let his hands go and throw combinations he can look a bit sloppy as we seen against Ortiz and Cotto.

Yet he still landed most of the shots he threw in combination against Ortiz and those combinations clearly bothered Vic in the opening moments of the 4th.

His fighting styles well balanced, he's good at everything.. if he had an average attack, how is he beating these guys so easily?? pacs offense is better but then look, you run the risk of been knocked clean out. It's all about being balanced. Can pacquiao fight on the back foot? no.. he's good against one style, namely his next opponent rios, prime example of what pac is great against. Floyd can beat any style.

He was fighting at lower weights when he turned pro. If Floyd came up as a welterweight during the late 90s - early 2000's he probably would have a loss on his record. You had Winky Wright, Felix Trinidad, Oscar DeLaHoya, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Vernon Forrest and Shane Mosley. Even some of the fringe guys (like Oba Carr, Jose Luis Lopez, Cristano Espana) were pretty decent welterweights.

Now who is there? Devon Alexander, Juan Manuel Marquez, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Pacquaio, Timothy Bradley, and Keith Thurman. I'd take the late 90's class over now any day of the week.

He's measured, efficient and accurate. His offense is good enough to beat top flight competition with relative ease. That's not average.
