His offense is amazing to dominate opponents with so few punches thrown. His defense is in perfect balance with his offense. You throw your right, he rolls right making you miss, then turns left bringing that right hand around to punish you for your error. One fluid motion, very accurate, very effective. He used the jab brilliantly against Canelo. The looping right and uppercut skillfully against Cotto...and so on.

True, he is not as offensively aggressive as he once was. Yes, those were dazzling displays. But, he is a harder puzzle to solve, at this stage...hence he can walk down bigger fighters or smaller fighters or he can fight off his back foot against either if he chooses.

If what he is doing does not qualify as an above average offense (it's A/A+ actually) what does? You cannot win many fights on defense alone.

at this stage he is a glorified slap boxer. he is a great boxer, but at this weight class he is not busting people up and knocking them down much less out. he is a frustrating fighter to be in the ring with and even a more frustrating fighter to root against lol.

slap boxers don't walk people down and make them scared to throw.

Joe Calzhage is a better example of a slap boxer...

    100% this.

He doesn't have great power or that much activity, but he doesn't need to. His offense relies on stopping you in your tracks, taking you off your game, and making you uncomfortable and vulnerable. His impeccable timing and accuracy means he doesn't need to use brute force or volume to score on his opponent. He's a master at that.

Let's stop the trolling seriously because obvious your trying to downplay his offensive skills which is insane since Mayweather connection rate is at 46 percent. Who do you know in the game that has a higher connection rate or should I say in history?

Take a look at this article that ESPN did on Mayweather Statistics

    http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7780088/floyd-mayweather-jr-measures-boxing-greats

Is not how many punches you thrown is how many of them are landing !!! You can throw 1000 punches a fight but if your only averaging 20% connection rate that's pretty poor.

Yes, but he wasn't fighting the likes of prime Tito, Oscar, Mosley Wright, Tsyzu, Vargas, Mayorga, Whitaker and the list goes on and on. If you think Floyd defeats all of them you are delusional. That era absolutely KILLS this era. Canelo would be KO'd by vargas, Oscar, Tito and prime Mayorga.

He needs to be more active offensively. That's all there is to it. From what we've seen in his past fights, save Ortiz and Hatton he has been average on offense.
