K so the dust has settled a bit and whether what Mayweather did in his most recent bout was legal or not it was definitely not respectable in comparison to the fashion in which other top fighters have been obtaining their KO's and W's. Look at Sergio Martinez' KO over Paul Williams. Pacquiao over Hatton. Those are real KOs. Their opponents were in fighting stance, they were top level fighters, with adrenaline flowing, fighting back. POW! Lights out! Haha Ortiz was standing straight up, no adrenaline, no awareness and wasn't even knocked out cold. On a weasel ass move at that. People aren't going to remember how much someone gets paid for fighting 50 years from now. With inflation the purses are gonna look miniscule. What we are gonna remember is gutsy performances, class, heart and humility. Risks! Mayweather is being outdone by other top notch fighters. That's why he shouldn't be pulling moves like that(legal or not.) Why argue? The "Top Fighter" needs to put on the best performances.
its way more impresive to outclass a world class p4p fighter over 12 rounds, make him look like he did not belong in the same ring rather that a 1 punch ko that anyone can get with a lucky punch
Ya paul williams was definitely a top level fighter. haha. who gets hit by the same punch over and over in three straight fights. I hate saying this about most fighters, but Paul Williams was always a hype job. Sergio is great nonetheless. Hatton? Come on dawg! Mayweather already knocked the dude out and ruined him. Pacquiao chewing on left overs again. Skills for skills. Mayweather is the best.
If there is Williams-Martinez 3 you will see the same 'lucky punch' land by the end of the 3rd round.
Miguel Cotto beat the best Floyd faced period. Suckerpunch needed to handle maidana's leftovers. If pacquiao faced Ortiz, Victor would have been laying on his back being transfered to a stretcher by the 3rd round.
For what it's worth, I've been more impressed by Nonito Donaire's performances than Mayweather's and Pacquiao's in the past year or so.
