Mayweather could have been a top fighter in any era. In the 1980s, he wouldn't have been the best at welterweight as I believe he would have lost to Duran, Leonard, and Hearns, but he probably would have stayed at 135 and made a legacy there.

He can only beat the fighters out there now, and he's done that.

If he would have lost then they would have claimed that he was overrated and hatton was the best fighter in the world but since floyd won they say well "this is a weak era" or blame in on cortez.
