After watching Mayweather win to me it was certain he is past his prime. His speed against Hatton and Delahoya is far far slower. Against Hatton on Saturday night he way missing quite a few punches that he would not have done in his prime. He moves far less and doesn't have quite the same balance he used to. He got hit by quite a few Hatton shots that indicate his refrlexs aren't what they were. I don't think this is a 1 fight decline but hes gradually slowed since 2005 and its very apparent now Good exciting performance by Mayweather but he is now past his prime. He still takes Cotto to school who is made to measure.
Its nothing to do with a decline in talent since 05, it has it all to do with moving up in weight each. The 05 Gatti fight was at 140, anything above and Floyd is still the best, but not as effective as he was 135 to 140.
It is just in response to him knowing fine well that Floyd beat on a Shot shell of a poorly motivated Hatton. Hatton was past it before he fought Tszyu.
wow, yo what the **** are you talking about??? Did you even watch the fight or were you too cheap to pay the $55. bull**** post
Mayweather may have appeared slower against Oscar because he was fighting at 154 Lbs for the first time in his career. No surprise there. The Hatton fight was a spectacular performance and one that showed Oscar still has a lot left to offer. He may not be at his peak per say, but he is still far from past it.
I stayed up to 5am and payed £14.99 ($35), I enjoyed the fight but Mayweather isn't as fast as he used to be, his reactions arent as quick and his isn't as good
Yes Floyd hasn't gained the weight quite right its slowed him down too much imo and thats why hes not as good as he used to be. That and hes older now at 30 and maybe not as hungry His punches look positive slow to me and his balance and reactions have slowed. Although he still has compact quick enough punches its no longer dazling
He was much better at 140. But also he's almost 31 and probably declining. That's why I think he should only fight Cotto. He should beat Cotto and then retire. Staying longer could end up bringing some losses for PBF.
You are correct imo. PBF's reflexes are not what they were when he was 24 years old. He doesn't throw the combo's he once did, but he is a smarter fighter now.
Agreed, Even if he were to call it quits now, most people wouldn't hold it against him. If he fights and beats Cotto, then his legacy will be permanantely cemented.
Some of you guys seem to be taking this thread as if PP is saying he is shot. PBF is clearly not as young, or as fast as he used to be, therefore, past his prime. He didn't say PBF is done or anything like that.
