So the lineal 140 pound champion will remain Mayweather even if he never fights again at 140?

Thank you for being so friendly.
So Hatton is still the lineal champ at 140 right?

He has beat the 140 Champ, but he's not the Lineal Champ.

Hatton is still the champ at 140 unless he goes back down and is defeated, or he makes this move to 147 permanent, in which case it would be vacated.

technically, had Mayweather come in at 140lbs or under, he could have won the jr. welterweight title. But, he didn't, and that means Hatton remains the champion in that weight class.

it's nothing but a technicality. mayweather beat hatton who was the champ at 140. so we can no longer say didnt fight one of the best 140 lb fighters. when he was at 140, we all said he didnt fight hatton or cotto. he just spanked hatton. so now Cotto and perhaps Williams are the only legitimate threats out there period.
