Guy beat an old Mosley, a old bloated Marquez, an overhyped english bum in Ricky Hatton, got a gift against a past prime DLH... I can't believe he's considered a top p4p fighter.
Mayweather's resume has holes in it but if he's so overrated then why do so many people want him in with Pac? and vice versa, all those that say Pac's overrated, handpicks opponents with styles made for him etc etc still want him in with May. He's one of the 2 best fighters currently on the planet. Get over it
He is very skilled but is too calculated. The only way we will know is when he fights good fighters in their prime or before they are found out. Theres no reason he can't beat them. He has the skill to do it.
Well look at his unbelievable Welterweight Resume. Nobody in the history will ever touch this. 6 have tried at Welter Zero have beat him. Nobody could beat these guys like Floyd. Mosley at age 39 JMM - first fight above 135 and only fight at WW Sharmba Mitchell at age 35 Carlos Baldomir at age 35 Ricky Hatton in his 2nd fight at 147 Zab Judah - who was KO'd by Tszu
Well, I feel that the difference between Pac and Floyd is primarily that Pac has challenged himself over and over and over again. In 2008 no question the best welters were no doubt Clottey, Margarito, Cotto. Well, Pac beat them all, and even if one or two were a few months past their best, Pac still beat them. You don't just suddenly start to suck overnight until you are just too old to be competing at the level anymore. Floyd has all the talent in the world, some of the best defensive moves and fighting instincts ever, and its clear from just watching a few rounds. But he never really challenges himself since Corrales and Castillo and maybe Hatton. Baldomir was about as safe a fight as you could make who had gotten lucky in a fluke championship bid but he was not a championship level performer, Oscar had been devoted mostly to other concerns than boxing for years but still put on a strong effort, etc. Floyd has the most solid skill set in modern times when you look at defensive mastery, ring generalship, survival instincts, and punching accuracy as well as adaptability, but he just never really accepts a challenge and rarely rises to the occassion to prove a point. He cut Baldomir in the first round but he decided to never even let Baldomir in the fight, and I respect that decision. But it made for a dull fight against a guy he so thoroughly outclassed that it could have been another Mayweather Gatti if he wanted it to be, and he simply does not have that mentality. I give him respect for the way he fought Mosley.
