So let me get this straight. He's overrated, but the only people that you can name that you think would beat him are arguably the best lightweight ever, the best 140 pounder ever and 2 of the best welterweights ever? Fail.
DLH started in the same weight class. Fail. And direct your "fail" to those who picked PBF to beat the rest of those bigger guys..
Point is, Mayweather is not an ATG.A guy like Benitez would have easily beaten Meywaether at 140 or 147. I am not sure how Mayweather would do in the strong welterweight division these days. He left unfinished business behind him and that goes against him big time in terms of legacy.
This is not about Hatton-Tszyu but about Hatton-Mayweather. Hatton was dirty in the Tszyu fight, yes. But Cortez did not give hatton a fair fight against Mayweather. Cortez did nothing against Mayweather's constant holding on. Everybody knew Ricky had no shot from the outside against the better boxer Mayweather. Difference is: Tsuyu retired. Hatton was willing to give him a rematch. Mayewther did not give a rematch to Hatton to erase all doubts.
Yeah, because Mayweather beat the **** out of him. He played Ricky Hatton's mauling style better than Ricky could. Get over it. He didnt complain that he got away with too much against Tszyu did he?
I agree with the Hatton being dirty in the Tszyu fight, but are you actually mad that for once a referee didn't let Hatton hold and mug his opponent like Mickey Vann used to let him do at home almost ALL the time. Holding and hitting is NOT a part of legal boxing. Also, to my eyes there was no doubt in the Mayweather fight. Hatton was very cleanly KTFO in about as decisive a way as someone can be KTFO.
Well, I feel we are getting carried away from the point thread which was that Mayweather is not an ATG and is far from unbeatable. I just thought that it would be interesting to see the Hatton-Mayewather fight with a different referee. But you are right about the fact that Hatton did not always fight cleanly in the past.
I also hope we get to see it again. Same result, only quicker. Any referee. As far as unbeatable, only idiotic fools think that any fighter is unbeatable when you compare them to the greats of the past.
Mayweather is generally underrated. However, his mouth has a lot to do with that. Talent wise, not many can hang with Lil Floyd.
