i keep on reading how people say floyd is scared of so and so and how canelo might give him a hard night. But people need to understand that floyd is past his best days. any fighter after 35 is not in his physical prime, there are only a few exceptions to the rule. If floyd looks bad against canelo and dare i say looses (which is unlikely) people need to back off the man is 36 he's been regarded as a p4p fighter since 1998 his best days are behind him, the success he has now is due to how exceptionally gifted he is.

He's had what? 5 fights since he beat Hatton 5 years ago? Think of how many fights he could have had then to solidify his legacy, he is an amazing fighter, but his record could have been even better if he had put the effort in, intead of coasting on ego

he hasn't been in wars, he is fine on the physical side

he should have more fights under his belt, especially the Pac fight, but he still has substantial achievements, the only one left I guess is breaking Marciano's record

  4. Hatton was the last REAL threat and the last time I picked against Floyd.

I think the recipe for Floyd to lose to Canelo is all there, and if Floyd does win, which is likely, it won't be a walk in the park. I have a sneaky feeling about this fight

marcianos record is a HW record and even there its not a real indicator of much because he had so few title defenses.

still, it is quite an accomplishment, as you don't see a fighter go 48 fights undefeated at top level all that often

Also he is said to have fought several guys past their primes. Yet now he is older than they were then and is still on top #1 so on.
If a fighter loses credit for beating guys past their prime should he not be returned the same credit for staying on top past his?
If being past prime is an excuse for losing then what does it mean when you keep winning after 35.
If these guys were as good as him being past their prime would not have stopped them from winning, considering it has not stopped Floyd.
Finally if beating someone who is past prime is less impressive or not relevant then why even fight after 35?
The fact is prime or not, great fighters like Floyd and B-hop are good enough to keep winning past their prime.
So if oscar and Shane and Cotto were past their prime when they lost to Floyd I say it is no excuse. If you are too old to be at your best then retire.
Also there should be a line drawn between past prime and completely washed up, see Mosley for example. When Floyd beat him he was past his prime but still had a flicker of his younger self, when Alvarez fought him he was just about done and many were calling for his retirement.

*****s already making excuses... Come on, Canelo is not fast enough to be a real threat. Floyd will pot shot his way to a UD, no need to worry. If Canelo had the speed and stamina to keep up you can bet your ass that Floyd retires before taking this fight.

Canelo would be a threat of he didnt have a work rate of one punch a round

Floyd is one of the hardest gs to hit at the best of times

Pernell didn't have any wars and neither did Roy Jones, but they became shot before 35 and 34

Roy was a different example all together, he balloned up to 193 then went back to 175, which hurt his health severely
