Bill Butcher, 1st, you have an awesome avatar!

2nd I think it's very possible that Floyd could be "one of the best" of all-time. If he beats Pacquiao and goes up to middleweight and dethrones Sergio Martinez or Paul Williams for the lineal middleweight crown then retires undefeated..he has a helluva argument!

Saying Mayweather is the best of all time sells to the casual fans and keeps him happy. It makes it an event when he fights

No I don't think hes the best of all time, but I do think he's the best of the last 10years. In turn someone who is only a top5 P4P fighter in the 40s (or any decade pretty much) is not better than him P4P

There aren't enough Asians in boxing to claim they have a style:lol:

Umm actually the lower weights are pretty dominated by Asians and Hispanics. Pretty much south of 130 maybe 135 your either fighting a Hispanic or Asian person. Hence most of Pacs early fights because against Hispanics or Asians.

There is a Black style as sure as there is a mexican and european style.:deal

Of course those styles are used by other people..but the most part THERE ARE CERTAIN STYLES OF BOXING.

    Since moving up

All Manny has done is fight straight ahead plodders ON THE WAY DOWN.

In Floyd's last 3 fights he beat a 38 year old (not your normal 38 year old, but still), he beat a lightweight, and he beat a 140lber. That's 3 fights in 34 months but people still talk about this guy all the time because they've bought into his own self promotion and highlight videos vs guys he should beat anyways. This is just getting flat out ridiculous the way you "boxing fans" can't see that Floyd and Manny's greatness has been manufactured by carefully selective match-making.

Neither Cotto nor Clottey are straight ahead plodders. Clottey is actually a massively defensive boxer and Cotto is more of a boxer puncher then a plodder. I mean for Cotto just because someone is hispanic doesn't mean they are a come forward plodder. Just like Black American doesn't mean slick. Paul Williams is African American and he is far from slick. He's a swarmder. So rather then saying bull**** races why can't we just use the descriptions of the style since they're accurate. Not all African American boxers are slick but all slick boxers are slick.

floyd did that because he can. its party time for him as far as he's concerned.

the federations don't rule boxing - boxers who transcend the sport or gain enough notoriety do, and for better or worse, they can do whatever the **** the want.

that's a condemnation on boxing and the basic flaws that are tolerated.

That 38 year old is the guy that beat the living **** out of Manny's next opponet.

JMM is one of the best fighters in boxing and is rated higher than Cotto...Clottey and Margarito.:yep

    Hatton refused Floyd at 140:deal

Ricky is a naturally bigger man than Mayweather....he started at 140...Floyd started at 130.

MOST of Floyd's fights are at 130 and 135:hi:

Yes I understand that and you are getting defensive for no reason, I am by no means a Pacquiao fan, I'm a Floyd fan. Floyd takes the path of least resistance that will garner him the most credit. Mosley beat Marg 2 years ago.

I agree, Pacquiao and Floyd both have shown they are gonna take the path of least resistance that will garner them the most credibility from fans who aren't really "in the know".

it's a good thing fighters jumping weights makes absolutely no difference to their speed, power and stamina across the board, or i might have to dismiss what the best fighters of this generation have achieved in their careers.
