I still believe PAcman beats Floyd but here are the reasons why I believe Floyd is the greatest fighter without ambiguity!

    1. Steroid testing was only introduced after 2002, so possible a lot of the great champions of the past juiced (always had my suspicions about Leanord Hearns Holyfield etc)

    2. Floyd Has accomplished his achievements in a more regulated era.

    3. The Bill Collins assault (Panama Lewis indecent etc) could have happened in so many times in the good old unregulated days (Ray Robinson era), everything is on more or less an even playing field now.

    4. There is a question mark over every previous era in boxing until recent athletic commissions became more stringent in vetting the sports.

Too many ambiguities in previous eras, how many champions were legit? where are the drug test results the checking of the gloves etc?

I would never buy a PPV Mayweather fight but I cant deny we might be watching the greatest prize fighter ever (until Pacman beats him....I hope!)

It doesnt matter if he looked like one, there is no documented evidence saying he passed a PED test or other checks that are required by athletic commissions today?

So you give him the benifit of the doubt that he was clean because he was TOMMY the HITMAN or SUGAR RAY the Icon...."oh no they could never have juiced"..and you happily question PAcman etc when they are at least doing some testing!!.....Wake up!!!

How about this scenario......An olympic athlete runs 9:50 in 1970 (when there is no PED testing) and the current sprinters can only get 9:60 you would always have an asterix against the 70's guy because it wasnt a regulated sprint

I never said greatest ever, I'm saying The Best ever in terms of skills.

No one has the skills this man has, in his prime.

Floyd may be the best ever, SKILLWISE but resume and his overall boxing career does not make him TBE

I would rank SRR and ali over Floyd and by some big margin.

whether Mayweather can beat Pac or not I don't much care, but this TBE to describe either of them is starting to be extremely annoying.

He's not the best skillwise either because his offense skills aren't good enough to be the most skilled ever, you need both to be the most skilled. SRR, SRL, Duran, and several others had more skills if you looked at the whole package. Whitaker, Pep, Benitez, etc are on par with Floyd's defensive skills.

To be honest in terms of who I've seen in my life SRL would be the best, (and I'm a Duran fan) Duran would be second, Ali third, RJJ fourth, Hearn's 5th, then we can decide where Mayweather fits in relative to Whitaker and Benitez, Monzon, Hagler, Hopkins, JCC, Pac etc.

BTW, this is based on skill set, not over all ranking. For that I have both Ali and Duran ahead of SRL. But had SRL fought another 30-40 fights he may very well have passed them both. Also both Ali and RJJ relied on speed to achieve their results and when that left them then their skills diminished significantly.

That's because this so called logic isn't.

Back in the day there was only one champ per division and PED"s weren't nearly as common as they are today because today the can hide them so much easier. (Does Lance Armstong ring a bell)

If anything things were much more on a level playing field in the past then they are now. And if one fighter tried dictating the type of gloves that could be used, they'd have been laughed out of the sport. I don't think Joe Louis gave a flying **** what gloves his opponents used as long as they were the same as his.

These comments are flawed ion so many levels that it's not worth discussing.
