I agree with Asterion here. Floyd is clearly slowing down. It could be seen in his fight with Marquez too, but I almost dismissed that as ring rust. He only has a few more virtuoso performances left imo.
True Do you think Floyd is past it physically? Or do you think this is just not Floyd's best weight-class. I think Floyd's seemed to near the top of his game as a welterweight. But it's all relative. Obviously he's prime/peak weight was closer to 130 pounds as a fighter. But as a welterweight, I haven't seen him digress or decline that much. I think he looked better than in the Marquez fight. A fight I was impressed with, but a fight I thought he seemed to lose a bit. The same could be said of Pacquaio I think. I would disagree with that, too. In the same fashion.
Both. He was never going to regain the legs and relative power he had at 130, where I rate him with Chavez as the greatest H2H. (We all get used to fighters winning titles at multiple weights, but we forget how much you have to change your body to get there.) At Welterweight, I think his heaviness on his feet was a big flaw, as well as low-ouput, power and strength. He's basically not big enough to compete with the ATGs at 147. Now he's compensated for that and got much stronger and more active, but he's lost speed and is even more flat-footed. So I don't rate him as much as a H2H commodity and as an athlete at 147 as I do in the lower weights. I think the thing with Pacquiao is that he's got so much better in his last few fights, but he's fighting in a higher weight class where he (like PBF) is not really big enough to be considered an ATG Welterweight for instance. But, at the lower weights, where he was big and strong enough, he hadn't fully developed as a fighter and didn't have the skills (IMO). He could rate highly at 140 if he has a couple more fights there, though that doesn't seem likely.
If that stupid comment is true then Paquiao is a walking mummy, who was busted and punched by a Clottey who has no time to train, was weight drained and did not fight. The face of Paquiao is all you need to see. Mayweather face is all you need to see. Mayweather takes more punishment at the lower classes. He has reach a level of master performer. How in the hell he is slowing down. A guy who has 2 fights in three years, has perfect aerobic and stunning power???? Are you kidding???. You must be crazy, or drunk. The punch Mosley landed on Floyd would ko cold Cotto, and he give 2 of the same punches and at the end of the round Floyd was turning the tables on him and at the other round he finish Mosley for the rest of the fight. What are you smoking. Whatever you smoke is really really good.
He may be out of his prime age wise, but he's getting better skill wise. I've seen him in harder fights again lesser men than Mosley during his years in the lower weight divisions.
What evidence do you see of his decline? He just dominated a hall of famer. I was not suprised at what happened in the 2nd. Mosley can bang and he is fast, he was going to punch PBF right in the mouth at some point, and it happened. Mosley did some things right in this fight, and he was frustrating PBF early on. But PBF used his superior reflexes and skill to get completely out of harms way, and began to tattoo Mosley. 33 is old for a little guy (which, if you really think about it, he still is a little guy) but I think the retirment helped. He wasnt getting punched in the head for 2 years, which always helps. I think he is fine right now. I think he will blow Pac away, in his current form, but it has to happen now. None of us are getting any younger.
You need to learn how to use what little brain cells you have. And then go watch some of Floyd's fights over the years. Now kindly **** off, internet tough guy. :-((
That's true and well said. Pac gained more skills, while Floyd always had them. They both regressed a little physically, you have to adjust to a different weight though. Floyd's hand-speed doesn't seem too slow to me. Mosley is fast and he had Mosley thinking. His foot-speed is but I'm not sure how much. Maybe that's why he decided to stand in the pocket more and fight aggressively. Honestly, though, rating Mayweather or Pac as some top 5 H2H force at welterweight is like rating SRL as some force at middleweight H2H. It's just not there, doesn't mean that aren't great at that weight-class. Because of the skills aspect, Pac is probably at his best around 140-147, though. But physically, you will always lose something.
yea but until the 0 go hes prime. pac williams leave the game behind or tour europe beating bums lol just kill those 2 oh martinez damn after this performance u really dont care to see him fight welters anymore u no they just cant compete
His reflexes and speed are clearly slower, but he's bigger and more experienced to compensate. He could easily become a B-Hop type fighter and go another 5-10 years if he wanted. He's not like RJJ, winning fights on speed and athleticism alone.
