here's my reply to this post before in case your lazy enough to read the thread through: Those fighters floyd fought early in his time were undoubtedly good fighters and could be the best at the division at the time but my contention is, those fighters turned out to be just an average boxer by today's standard. try some more.
ATG status is is not bestowed to boxers who have great skills, talent and record but to their level of opposition and achievements.
It amazing how some "Boxing Fans" (And I am using that term LOOSELY!!!) place all these IF, ANDS & BUTS to certain fighters...But hail other fighters as "KING ****!!!!" He claims that this upcoming fight with Pacquiao..."would be his first fight in a while where he has to face a legitimate threat and a fight at the elite level". And that Floyds wins over Oscar, Hatton and Marquez were not that impressive. Hmmm, Ok..Lets look at these fights: Oscar had 6 fights at 154lbs and one fight at 160lbs, and Floyd had only 3 fights at 147lbs and NEVER fought above this weight before stepping into Oscar's "COMFORT ZONE" at 154lbs for this fight. And although judges called it a SD...Even Stevie Wonder saw that Floyd Dominated this fight EASY. Now Oscar vs Pacquiao - Oscar hasn't fought at 147lbs since 2001...Yet Pacquiao fights a DEHYDRATED, DISORIENTED AND HALF-DEAD Oscar...Also past his prime...But this is considered a GREAT WIN FOR MANNY!!!:-( FPF vs Hatton - Hatton...Got Dominated after round 3 by Floyd. Floyd doesn't have many 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th round KO's...Hes' not that find of fighter...He Defensive, Calculating and wait for you to make your mistake. Example: Its like a Poker Player...Thats wants to see what you have first...Before he hits you with A FULL HOUSE!!!! I won't even touch the marquez fight...Too Easy!!! DAMN:-(
Never said ATG. Never mentioned resume because I think its over-rated. Said one of the best ever, which he is.
Floyd is far from untested, however he hasn't consistantly fought the best there was. Alot of the situations were not his fault, but some guys that come to mind are Tszyu, Mosley, Margarito, Paul Williams and a few others. Hopefully we can still might be able to see Mosley/Mayweather but I think Shane is getting alittle too old for that to be a meaningful fight.
the Oscar win is a fight Floyd was expected to win. Pac win against Oskie is not good either but better against Floyd since nobody thought Pac would win considering the size disparity. remember the maxim "a good big fighter always beat a good little fighter"
1) floyd won the fight clearly vs ODLH despite conceding EVERYTHING to him including 13 lbs on the night of the fight. 2) floyd is not a KO artist and fought hatton while hatton was still undefeated and completely dominated him the whole fight ending it with a beautiful KO. 3)Cotto never called floyd out...as a matter of fact cotto (arum) truned down a posible fight with floyd a few years back saying he was too green 4) ur a clown ....obviously if ur boy pac is elite and he beat these guys surely u agree floyd is on an elite level since he beat them first
AVERAGE??? at the time they were great...for a reason...then when floyd beats them they become average..but ODLH who is an atg was past it blah blah blah...u can make any excuse for any fight...bottom line is floyd is elite
U can always tell lance is owned when he has to personally attack you....he will start on how u type, and somehow ur age etc etc....he is basically a clown:deal
For the last time, Floyd is an elite fighter. Its proven on good fighter but not with elite level opposition. you gotta agree with me on this.
no I don't ****ing agree with you...he has not only beat but dominated ELITE competition thouroughly!!!! Is pac his toughest test...we will see...i think Floyd will dominate him and he will become just another fighter that is too small, limited in skills or whatever excuse u want to give. Then he will beat Mosely who is too old, then cotto who is past it, then berto who is too young...it doesn't matter who he beats and how bad he beats them the haters will hate....but do not tell me he has never fought at the elite level....he has had 21 championship fights ********...21-0
I wouldnt go as far as saying untested, he just didnt take the biggest challenges at WW, he was fine until he got to WW, then he went awol and retired with a great division looking at him. But before WW he was pretty damn impressive all the way up, even though i would agree it wasnt the toughest schedule but he did what he did in style and made it look pretty easy most of the time
