I have followed this sport as long as I can remember, and I have to be honest with you I think my first live fight I remember seeing was Hagler vs Leonard. I didnt understand the controversy in the fight, nor the reason my uncle was pissed off that Leonard got the win, all I knew is Boxing brought the family together everybody BBQ'd got drunk and kicked it. looking back today guys like Holyfield, Tyson, Chavez, Roy Jones, and Oscar sold the game, they took this sport to a whole new level setting up Huge PPV events, drawing fans that wouldnt normally tune in ect.. There was a phase of hate I went through regarding De La Hoya, I couldnt stand the man, things only got worse when he won a narrow decision to Quartey, I felt Oscar was the forgotten member of New kids on the block I just didnt think he belonged in boxing. Then came along the Trinidad fight, and Honestly though I was supporting Trinidad in this fight, Oscar was beating the living **** out of Tito, however faded in the last third of the fight and ran:nono Though I dont disagree with who won the fight, if I had to pick a winner I had to give it to Oscar. Since the Trinidad fight De La Hoya has stepped in there with Mosley twice, Vargas, Hopkins, Mayorga,Mayweather and Pacquiao, Suddenly the hate I had turned into respect. Will I ever be able to say the same for Mayweather Jr? I just dont know, he was on the same path as De La Hoya, he got me to hating, which is good, make me a doubter and prove me wrong I am up for the challenge, but he didnt, Floyd didnt take the kinds of fights De La Hoya took, and yes though DLH has some losses he also has some good wins, and nobody in their right mind can say Oscar ducked anybody. But at the end of the day when I add it all up, Mayweather isnt bad for Boxing, if a guy like Mayweather Jr can get an occasional fan converted into a full time fan, then he has to be good for the sport, had it not been for Mayeather, you wouldnt be able to argue with Pimp C all day, or p4pdabest, or eze, or scar, Mayweather turned people on to this sport who may not have noticed the sport at all had it not been for him. so in this sense Mayweather is good for the sport. becuase love him or hate him, what Mayweather, De La Hoya, Holyfield, and Jones jr did for this sport is pave the way for these younger fighters to have a bigger and better future for themselves, they have paved the way for a fighter who risks his life to make a good living and for that who can really hate anybody?
Mayweather is bad for humanity he sums up an entire generation who's only interest is the gangsta wannabe materialistic lifestyle. Scarface is a role model for these angry rude arrogant highly unlikeable people.
My entire point to this post is simple, you all know I cant stand Floyd everybody knows that ****, but if he can draw people like Pimp C and P4Pdabest and eze away from their Nsync lip singing contest, obviously Floyd is bringing in people who wouldnt normally watch the sport.
