I am not sure Floyd brings in any more than anyone else. Bottom line is if Mayweather did such a good job than MMA would not be thriving. If Hagler and Hearns and Duran and Leonard were around now boxing would be great as it was in the 1980s. Floyd has not helped boxing much in my mind, and as much as I hate to admit it, the guys who helped boxing were the ones who fought each other like Oscar Delahoya and Trinidad and Hopkins. Those guys are the ones who help boxing and make it great, not guys like Mayweather who picks and chooses his fights. All he has is an ego and his mouth and good skills which he never will have tested because he is not as confident as he sounds. He is a good fighter and maybe great, but he has not fought the great guys to prove he as good as he says. Floyd's legacy will not be great if he stays retired.

This is a bunch of bull****. People hate Floyd, but then they jump on the "my guy has more fans" bull**** to justify why Margarito wouldn;t give PW a rematch, or why Shane should have to fight Cotto in NY. **** that. Back in those days Margarito would be laughed at for being a ***** and hiding behind Bob Arum. Same for Cotto. At least they did fight each other.. but neither one of those guys is the true threat at 147, as much as they get hyped....

Well I am not saying Floyd should have fought Margarito, all I am saying is as it stands right now his resume is not that great really and lacks some great wins. What are his great wins? Compare his legacy to Hagler or Hearns. Hagler beat Duran and had a war with Hearns and 10 title defenses with the best of the 1980s middleweights. Hearns beat Cueves,Benitez,Duran, Hill and wars with Hagler and Leonard. Mayweather beat an old Oscar. See the difference? Hatton is not a real great. My point is Mayweather needs Shane and Pacman on his resume to say something. If he beats those two and moves up and beats Berto, that would look much better than he looks now. He quit before he fought any elite prime fighters.

Now he needs them. Why weren't you saying this in 2007?

mayweather is a great fighter, but his personality can be compared to a 10 year old *****..

i still love watching him fight though, and still wishing him to come back cause of it.

    Well said.

That is exactly why PBF is not an TOP 50 ATG. PBF fans may deny that but in the end that is irrelevant.

PBF does not have longivity neither a very impressive resume.

I wouldn't say he's bad for the sport - that's a bit of an overstatement. But he's not especially good for the sport either. Not in the same way Pacquiao is.

I am happy that he is retired.
A lot of fans were sick of him when he cherry picked his opponents.

Mayweathers fights sometimes didn't meet expectations in terms of excitement but Mayweather was great for the sport. Huge PPV, massive fights, huge pre fight build ups etc

Mayweather v Hatton, DLH, Judah and Baldo were good fights for the sport. DLH and Baldo were good fights but the performance was poor and that ruined it.
