He doesn't have Welterweight greatness - but Greatness at many other weightclasses.. Carlos Baldomir was the champ so that is a legit win. Zab Judah was a good win. Why should anyone explain that to be great - it is not.. He is great though..

I don't think Mayweather is a great Welterweight. He's the Welterweight Champion, and has won the Ring, the Lineal, the IBF and the WBC titles there.

Mayweather is the greatest Super Featherweight of all time, but at 147 he's nothing more than an average champ.

Now please shut up.

 

Anyone who knows that they're talking about could make a really good argument that Floyd is the best SFW of all time. The only other guy that might be ahead of him is Arguello. I'd be happy see your list of other SFW's that you have ahead of Mayweather.

Mayweather has a fantastic record. In all instensive purposes he had no right fighting De La Hoya at light middle anyway, he did start at super feather ya know! In fact when he was lightweight champ, the thought of him facing Oscar at 154 was laughable, let alone beating him!

he beat the undisputed, linear champ in Baldimor - he may not be Ray Robinson but he was recognized as THE MAN so PBF deserves he probs for beating him, he beat Zab who is a very good fighter, and Ricky Hatton was linear light welterweight champ, not a real 147lber, but boxing history is littered with great match ups where a linear champion from a lower weight fights the linear champion of a higher weight. Floyd should be critisised for fighting Ricky Hatton, he is a quality operator a world champ in his won right and one of the most marketed fighters in the whole World.

Cotto on paper may have the better welterweights on the record, but that is irrelevent, he is still only the number 1 ranked contender until he beat Mayweather or until Mayweather retires.
