Floyd Mayweather Jr goes head to head with who he thinks is the best in the world right now, Juan Manuel Marquez. How do you think the fight will go? :think

i think itll be tougher than where expecting...marquez is going to show up prepared and ready to fight, itll start quick and JMM will have his moments but once the pace settles down Floyd will figure him out and dictate and control the fight keeping marquez off him.....simply to much speed and power at 147, i cant really see Floyd KO JMM unless its like the Hatton Ko where he catches him cold

Floyd by UD 117-111sh - i cant really see how you could predict any other way

116-112 mayweather, marquez simply gets outboxed and gets hit with the cleaner punches throughout the fight.

    decent amount of action

Pretty tight prediction. Marquez will have his moments, especialy in the first six rounds. Floyd studies him, and then begins to control the fight en route to a points decision around the 116-112 mark. This fight could be boring at times.

to fight Floyd and win, you need a plan A, B and C. And they all have to be great plans.

I feel Marquez can follow a plan but can he switch up in the middle rounds and then switch again when Floyd has him figured out?

Its a tall order. I cant wait to see it!

This fight will bring back memories of Castillo and I could see Marquez going down atleast once but getting right back up never giving up. Marquez will go to the body while May is on the ropes. I see this as a very close fight with Marquez showing his true heart and giving us a great fight.

It seems like every fight that Mayweather is in now, people claim that his opponent will morph into Castillo. Marquez doesn't fight like Castillo. Marquez won't be at a size advantage like Castillo was. Marquez won't be able to take Mayweather's punches as well as Castillo did.

Floyd by UD. Like 10-2 in his favor if he doesn't decide to take some rounds off.

 I aggree with this post. I thaught the same thing when JMM said they were studying the Castillo fight. JMM will NOT be the stronger man on the 18th. When Floyd faught Castillo the first time it i think Castillo had the strength advantage. Floyd had JUST came up in weight for that fight.

Also JMM never fights like that. He is best when he is the counter puncher.

Well JMM reminds me of Castillo because of how well they place their shots, they have the same incredible upper cuts and I really think Marquez will work the body. One thing is for sure Marquez has got to make this an inside fight and trade with May. May has an incredible reach advantage. Plus the only man using his strength was Mayweather pushing with his elbows or did you see Castillo pulling a ricky hatton? Castillo didnt have to be faster than May he was precise and he threw alot of shots. If JMM is able to do the same but for 12 rounds unlike Castillo who started off late, I think JMM has a fair chance.

I agree. In many ways, I believe this fight is a sham. It seems as though Mayweather wants a tuneup but wants to get paid like it's a superfight. Fighting Marquez allows this to happen. Marquez is talented enough and has enough fan support to justify putting this on PPV. However, he's probably too old, too small, and too defensively challenged to beat Floyd.

I think it will be a close fight for the first 8 rounds with Marquez giving Mayweather a lot to think about. But I would expect Mayweather to take over in the remaining rounds to see out a UD. Marquez is the most complete fighter Mayweather has faced just interested to see how much the size difference effects the fight. If Floyd has lost a bit of sharpness or is taking the fight for granted, I wouldn't be surprised if Marquez nicks it.
