Floyd Mayweather Jr has approached Ricky Hatton's team about a possible rematch in 2009, according to the Englishman's camp.Mancunian Hatton suffered his only professional defeat at the hands of pound-for-pound king Mayweather a year ago, being comprehensively beaten inside 10 rounds in Las Vegas. The 30-year-old two-weight world champion has spoken of his desire for a rematch with Mayweather, who retired after the victory. Recent rumours have suggested Mayweather has been preparing to return to the ring, and Hatton's lawyer Gareth Williams on Wednesday told PA Sport the American has indicated Hatton may get his wish, but Hatton's priority remains a showdown with Manny Pacquiao, who inherited Mayweather's status as the world's leading fighter. Hatton travelled to America earlier this month to watch Pacquiao beat Oscar De La Hoya and had been keen to face the winner of that blockbuster showdown. But Hatton's lawyer and advisor Williams revealed that while Hatton is still hoping to face Pacquiao - though negotiations have not started, contrary to promoter Bob Arum's claims - Mayweather is also an option. "Every light-welterweight in the world wants to fight Hatton," he told PA Sport. "We've had approaches from everybody. We've also had approaches from people at 130lbs, Juan (Manuel) Marquez and Juan Diaz both want to fight him. He is a massive draw and can fight where he wants. "We've also had approaches from Mayweather to have a rematch with him. He wants to fight Ricky. "But the fight we want to make, our preference, is Manny Pacquiao because we think that is a great fight. Ricky has made no secret of the fact he wants to take on the best and Pacquiao is regarded as the best. "We're more than happy to make that fight but it has got to be on acceptable terms." http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5g4O0iF5nIm5k_zz8SkLqQ6IVuZwg I'd rather see him fight Pac first personally. I also think that this may be Floyd trying to derail plans for Hatton vs. Pac so he can perhaps nip in first. Pac's promoter has stated they want Hatton first, then Floyd. Perhaps Floyd will fight the winner. Floyd always has the style to beat Hatton, imo, and especialy more so if this fight made again at 147; a change in weight must be made to add interest.
What a ****ing joke Mayweather would be if this were true. Pacman is red hot and he's trying to match a guy he already beat. Christ.
Hopefully Ricky Hatton won't be seduced into taking this. I hope Pac agrees to the Hatton fight leaving Floyd out in the cold. This is a ****-take. There's no justification for a re-match at all .
I prefer PBF-Pac or Hatton-Pac. PBF probably doesn't want anything to mess up his fight with Pac. The fight will be billed as the winner takes on Pac. I know you Hatton fans won't like this but I guess he's using Hatton as a tune-up.
No that's margo taking on Cotto in a rematch a man he made quit in the ring. That's Cotto admitting that I can't beat you I give up. Atleast Hatton went out on his shield he didn't quit. Hatton deserves a rematch more than Cotto does.:deal
why you gotta bring cotto into it?? .. and margarito ?? it's not there fault mayweather cried and retired instead of having to fight them .. mayweather literally sat there on a podium sobbing like a school girl ..afraid of what awaits him after class... literally ..theres clips and pictures to prove it!!! ... and whats this tune up ****? .. man mayweather gets more ****ing tune ups then a car!
I'll be honest here - i'd like to see a rematch. I enjoyed the first one, and I think Hatton would do better second time around. But to call out Hatton when Pac is so hot is just unforgivable. Even if he said he wanted the winner of Ricky-Pac, he could do what he liked!! He could take Oscar for the rematch without me complaining!
how would that any interest? the weights on fightnight the second time around would be no different from the first fight. just because it's being held under the junior welterweight banner doesn't mean ****, floyd beats that arse all night, every night. there is no way of justifying this tripe.
Nah,this one would be bigger, your punk ass white boy eyes don't see it.:yep.Hatton doesn't deserve a rematch at all,Cotto does.
