Mayweather was just scared to suffer his first defeat against DLH. DLH had guaranteed that he would defeat Mayweather in the rematch. I believe that DLH made an adjusment in his plan to defeat PBF and it was going to work, just the way he did in his rematch against Mosley (in which DLH was rubbed). If you watch DLH against Forbes, you can notice that DLH fought 12 rounds without looking very tired, he threw more jabs and punches than usually. It looks like DLH really knew what to do to defeat PBF. It looks like PBF had the feeling that he would lose knowing that in the first fight one of the judges saw DLH winning the fight and the other two judges saw the fight very closed. DLH is ready willing and able to win but PFB will rather avoid it for now and maybe wait until later. Mayweather Sr. may have shown DLH the way to defeat PBF but may have also retreated and advice PBF not to take this fight for now.
no mayweather quit because even the delahoya rematch wasn't going to sell. the fans.. the people that run it... the sport itself...has had ENOUGH of this ***get running around leaping on superstars pretending like everybody is there to see him... good riddence ***get you didn't do **** for michigan but leave as soon as things got good...
You know not to sound like I am jumping on the bandwagon but I almost agree with you, DLH lost to PBF by a single point and that was with Roach a guy who wasnt as familiar with Floyd as Floyd Sr is, I think Floyd Jr knew that the rematch with DLH was highley risky and if somehow he managed to get by that fight people would demand him to fight the winner of Cotto Margarito in other words Floyd was backed into a corner so he retired. as it stands now his ATG status is in the toilet.
This is what Floyd leaving will do for him... 1. It will keep his name HOT for a while, or atleast until the attached names retire or move up in weight like Oscar, Miguel, Antonio, Shane ect.. and keep him in the mix without having to lace them up....that's smart. (Oscar did the same thing)
in boxing circles it's hot, we are blowing dude up right now like never before. look at all the threads bout Floyd. He will be relevant even without fighting.... I'm starting to see his move.
Everyone wanted a fight from him!! Delahoya and Hatton both wanted a rematch Boxing fans wanted [as did I] to see him fight the winner of Cotto/Margorito and maybe fight the winner of Williams/Quintana Mayweather didnt want to be put under the pressure to fight all these fights so retired. After Cotto/Margarito/Hatton/Williams have been beaten then he might consider coming back to the sport.
he misses the days when people didnt give a **** about him and he could just sit back in the cut beating up sosa and brussles claiming to be the best in the world
these pbf fans keep talking about him blowing up yet have no ppv numbers to prove it was his name that brought in the fans and not hatton and delahoya
