He beats an undefeated prime opponent in Ricky Hatton. If he beats Cotto and Pavlik he is in the top 3 ever.
I thought Floyd would win by UD.. but wow... he really did put on a great performance.. and as I've recently been showing my dislike of Floyd, I have to give him kudos, he's one of the greatest of all times, no doubt about that.
Don't know about becoming Top3 ever, but no doubt Mayweather is an ATG. In my opinion, a win over Cotto is all that he needs.
he was an all time great before this fight. :good i've always rated the kid. i did change me opinion a few months ago and felt hatton's pressure might outwork floyd. but inside mayweather was better than i thought. more so from a spoiling perspective actually. :yep
Hes one of the greatest no doubt but he hasnt attain the level of a RJJ, Pernell, Forget about Ray Leonard or Duran he'll never attain that level. He cant be judge based on a great performance against a top 20 fighter in Hatton. Beat Cotto, Mosley and Williams and hed surpassed RJJ and Pea. Although I think hes greater than BHop now
This is exactly what I thought as soon as the fight ended. Mayweather needed a fight like this to clearly establish his ATG status. Ricky Hatton's no stumblebum. He's a TOP LEVEL world class fighter in his prime. And Mayweather outclassed him and then knocked him the f*ck out. That's greatness - ALL TIME greatness!! :yep
Yep, if he beats both Cotto and Pavlik, many might even rank him as #1 GOAT in the due course of time.
I disagree that this fought turns him into an ATG. Lets not forget how bad Ricky looked his last time at 147.
He need never fight again. He has nothing left to prove to anyone. All he needs to do now is improve his personal image and he will be THE ATG.
Top 3 is a little crazy, but definitely the best of his generation and an ATG. Haha....I've been in this who's better than who all time debates and they usually lead nowhere. It's an honor, though, if you're a fighter to be in them, and Floyd certainly will be. And I agree, the clincher will be a win over a prime welterweight aka Cotto.
Floyd was so gentle after the show... we've seen Robinson, we've seen Ali.. and now we get to see Floyd Mayweather, he's up there :happy
isnt strange how all these people are going to appreciate floyd for what he is now that he's planning on quitting? Boxing is a strange thing. :think
